Good Afternoon,

I've recently joined this site & am looking for any assistance with the following problem.

My partner took her 1973 vw camper to a local recommended interior conversion place last year, she discussed what would be required inside & an idea of the price was given at £3K. We collected the camper Friday & have spent the weekend looking at the conversion, there appears to be a great deal off issues with the work:

The floor isn't level & its not fitted close to the body

The pop-top roof isn't fitted tight enough & looks dreadful with lots of mastic visible

The cupboards have been screwed into the floorpan & are the screws are visible underneath

There appears to be damage to the paintwork which wasn't apparent prior to the work commencing

The original price included the garage purchasing the fridge, floor, window seals & labour.

upon collection the price remained the same, however my partner had purchased the flooring, fridge & the bed.

We are concerned that A: The work is substandard & B: The garage have overcharged

We want to contest the work & price, how should we go about this?

Hi Caro,

No there wasn't a written quote it was a verbal estimate prior to commencement of work.

Hi Caro,

No there wasn't a written quote it was a verbal estimate prior to commencement of work.

If the invoice doesn't have a breakdown of costs email and ask them for that, pointing out what you provided that was in the original estimate, and detail what the verbal agreement included so that you start a paper trail that you can use should you need to start a court claim. Also list the problems that need putting right.

Why did you pay the bill if you knew you had provided some of the goods?

Wait and see if others can give more info on your legal rights.
