Hi

My son has previously been off school for quite bad illness and we are being harassed by educational welfare stating he is having too much time off school. We have supplied evidence of illness but they are still being pains in the backside. The last letter threatened a fine.

Has anyone got a letter that will put a rocket up their backside and get them to back off? I have no problems with taking things to court if they need to get messy but i think in the first instance a letter should suffice.

What illness? Some illnesses are now not seen by schools as sufficient reason to keep a child off. You may find this is a case where you deem you child too ill to attend but the school are saying they still have to come in. Bit more details please.

You may also find that everything is fine and its just because he is on a low attendance list, you are automatically getting letters.

Sorry about the deay in getting back to everyone. Just to finish off the thread, I got hold of the head of educational welfare. gave her a roasting over the phone and funnilly enough they backed right off.

I also stated to them that any court action or fine they made would be vigariously defended.
