My husband has received a letter off a company called 1st Credit

asking him to ring regarding a personal matter and that our address has been supplied for him.

He has emailed and asked what it is about but they are asking for him to confirm his address & phone number

(which we havnt done just told them to communicate by email)

my husband has not had anything on credit since 2007 so we have no idea what its for.

Does anyone know who this company collects for please?

Agree with Letsgetitsorted.

Ignore and do not contact until 1st Crud sent something worthwhile through the post (which they will).

When you do receive a letter with details of whom the Original Creditor of the debt was and the amount then please post back for further information, do not ring them and if they ring you, refuse to go through DPA questions and say "In writing only" and hang up. You are under no legal obligation to speak to them on the telephone, also it is their preferred method of bullying you into a payment so keep everything in writing.

Also might be worth your Husband checking his credit files to see if anything has been added or listed.

Stigman

NEVER telephone a DCA

If a DCA rings you, refuse to go through the security questions & hang up!

Ha very nice of them to ask you to confirm a phone number... So they can harass you haha

No, ignore until something more serious turns up.

Reigate Idiots sorry...

They collect from memory for Lloyds, Sainsburys... The list goes on...

We could do with some help from you.

Please have a look at the CONC rules - and especially http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?426126-CONC-7.9-Contact-with-customers-including-visits%281-Viewing%29-nbsp as 1st Credit may be in breach of them by sending you non-specific phishing letters

Thank you for your replies. He checked his credit file a few months ago on the free check and there was 0 accounts on there and his credit score was 960.

The letter was addressed to him, but says inside the letter if you are not Mr xxxxx or he is no longer resident at this address then please call this number to let us know.

As these companies are lazy they send out a number of these letters to people with similar names to a debtor who live near the last known address of that person going on the assumption that people only move house locally (commonly true). So, a number of people will ahve received the same letter as yours and they will harass and bully the first person to respond, even if they arent the right person. It doesnt bother them who pays as long as someone does. Dont give them the joy of being this person, ignore them until they send a proper communication.
