My 3 year ban is ending on 14/9/14 and went for the hro medical, I put on the questionnaire I smoked cannabis, 2 joints a week and use cocaine about once a month, received a letter to go for a drugs test, I not used cocaine in over a month and my last joint a week and a half ago, still waiting on the results, was wondering if anybody knew how my outcome will be, as I can drive when my ban is up even though I not received my licence yet and don't want to get my car back on the road to be told I'm not aloud to drive, any comments would be appreciated.

my first medical was a blood sample to test to see if im dependant on alcohal, then because i said i smoke canabis, 1 or 2 joints a week they sent me for a urine drug test, my last joint was a week and a half before the test and last used cocaine over a month before the test,

If you believe

http://www.drugtestingnetwork.com/urine-testing.htm

Your urine would be negative for the coke, but likely +ve for cannabinoids.

Be glad they didn't do hair testing.

If they decide you have "Persistant use" or "dependence" they can insist on :

1 year abstinence from cocaine

6 months abstinence from cannabis.

If they decide your (admitted) usage is " Persistant usage " : they could refuse your application based on your statements alone.

It means they wouldn't consider licensing you (or re-testing you) until 6 months had passed from your last admitted usage.

In practice this could mean more than 6 months from last admitted usage to when you actually have a license in your hands. During that time you wouldn't legally be allowed to drive (if your license was revoked rather than voluntarily surrendered)

Think of it as:

6 months abstinence before you apply.

However long it takes for them to arrange tests.

Up to 18 weeks after that for them to "make enquiries" and review the results......

Illogical, I know, as there are drivers driving today who used cannabis yesterday or the day before ; however, DVLA will say "high risk offender, changes their risk profile"

I'm not saying it is right, just what you might face....
