I'm having an absolute nightmare with Home Retail Group at the moment.

I discovered in February this year that there was a default there dating February 2013.

This is the first I knew of the default.

I did a little digging and found that this must relate to a Argos card I'd had in 2012.

I took out a loan to consolidate debt in Nov 2012, one such item of credit consolidated was the Argos card.

After several calls to Argos,

I was finally advised to send a letter explaining all of this along with my bank statement proving I'd paid the account off.

I then made several follow up calls to underwriting, who insisted they'd not received my letter up to three weeks after I'd sent it,

however they said it wouldn't be them dealing with it, I should contact Collections - the original people I spoke to.

I called Collections yesterday, explained the situation all over again

but because they have no record of my account,

they say there's nothing they can do.

I feel like I'm banging my head against a brick wall..

. Anyone got any ideas what to do next?

your complaint should go to their Head/Registered office - address it to the Chief Excecutive. Make sure your letter is headed FORMAL COMPLAINT, they are then obliged to respond within 8 weeks. If they dont, or their response is not satisfactory, then you will be able to escalate to the Ombudsman.

You might also want to contact the credit reference agencies, advise there is a formal complaint/dispute in place and that you would like to them to place a notice on your file.

send them an sar.

also are you sure you are not looking at the updated default date

look in the summary line for the default date.

a settled loan will still be 'defaulted' and showing

until 6yrs from whatever the default date was

settling a loan does not remove the default.

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

I suggest a complaint addressed to the Data Controller at HR Group enclosing a copy of the credit ref file entry.
