Only issue you'll have is if they bring the debt back in house... This is done every so often.

Not sure that I have seen HFC buy back a debt but it could be done. Barclays/Barclaycard have done it.

 

They then have a right of set-off again so a charges reclaim could be set against the liability in that instance.

 

However, there is nothing to lose and potentially something to gain so it would be worth doing the calculations to see what might be due back to you and take it from there.

Not at all...you are correct...it could be done and has been by other companies.

 

As dx has intimated and I agree that I don't think we have seen HFC do it but it is not beyond the realms of possibility.

I am pretty certain that Capone have also purchased back debts in order to offset PPI/Charges.
