Ethical issues aside, am I legally required to notify the companies I owe money to when I move address?

No court orders have been made against me - I am referring to credit card debt that is being dealt with by a debt collection company.

Thanks,

Jeff

Not that I am aware of. There could be issues though if you didn't. CCJ by the back door is the first thing that comes to mind

If you are asked to deal with any matter via private message, PLEASE report it.

Everything I say is opinion only. If you are unsure on any comment made, you should see a qualified solicitor

They cannot 'fine' you for not telling them you have moved.

Once your address has changed on your bank details Experian et al 'alert' their subscribing friends to your new details - so expect a flood of mail - especially when you are near to statute barring with the debt.

Personally, dont bother... and as SG1 says, they will come knocking.

Itll give you a few months peace but then again keep one eye on the CCJ element.

We could do with some help from you.

make SURE your old addresses and the new one SHOW on your cra file.

that way, they have no real excuse for a backdoor CCJ.

however , there are no hard and fast rules that I am aware of

the stipulate they must take all due diligence in finding your correct address before any legal action is started or served.

there are cases that exist both ways whereby a CCJ etc served to a wrong address were and were not successfully set aside.

for that reason.

judge lottery me thinks whichever way you go.

PERS I would not write as has already been pointed out, its prob on your CRA file anyway

if you are on voters or take out mobile contracts/bank accounts/sky/virgin, it will most def be there.

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...
