Parking Eye PCN - Grasmere Broadgate Meadow

Hi

I've just received a parking charge notice from Parking Eye for Grasmere carpark.

I paid for 3 hours but our walk took a bit longer than we thought and I didoverstay by about 2 more hours - my fault.

They want £100, discounted to £60 for quick payment.

Having read various threads I'm unsure whether it's best to:

1. Ignore, or

2. Appeal, first to PE and then POPLA.

As I live a long way from Grasmere I can't go back to check the validity ofthe signs, and I acknowledge I did overstay.

So - what's my best course of action?

You seem clued up! The best option is 2.

 

Do not admit to being the driver. This is important.

 

Wait until the Notice to Keeper arrives, make a "soft" appeal to Parking Eye; saying they can either offer a POPLA code or cancel the charge. You can also take a look around the various forums (or Parking Cowboys) and ask them questions about what you are being charged for - breach of contract etc. Once you get a POPLA code mark a hard appeal challenging their right to offer a contract; asking to see copies of the contract, asking how the charges have arisen if it is not a penalty etc.

The PCN doesn't say how long I bought vs how long I stayed.

just to be clear - is the "notice to keeper" letter a different one to the "parking charge notice" one (apologies if that seems daft!)

If so - how long after the PCN will the notice to keeper come?

It is NOT a PCN it just has the same initials to create the same acronym, do not confuse this with an official parking ticket from Plod or Council.

It is all made to look like it has some official bearing to it.

You could try offering 2 quid to the landowner or occupier to pay for the extra time and if they decline your offer ask them upon what basis are they failing to mitigate their losses. They will probably reply "nothing to do with us guv, its the parking people" and then you have PE over a barrel.
