When were the defaults first placed on your CR file ? If they are due to fall off soon (6 years from placement), then it might be worth just waiting.

You can ask for them to remove them as part of a F&F, however, I doubt they will do this - unless they were placed incorrectly in the first place.

I truly don't see them removing it then. However, if you don't ask, you will never know :(

Suppose they can only say no. I contacted 3 debts, and they have told me I need to speak to the DCA that are looking after, the debt on their behalf. Why can't I speak to them direct since they haven't sold the debt on! Negotation with a DCA who doesn't own the debt isn't really a negotation!

I have letters from the OC saying Capquest, Apex are handling the account on their behalf,

I intially wrote to the banks and then rang them.

I was told the DCA represents them.

I rang one DCA and they said the OC had said a 75% settlement.

I have assumed that if I spoke to the other 2 DCA's they would say the same thing, for the other 2 debts.

I can get 60ish% together with family help but not 75%, and the DCA must have at least a 10% fee if not more.

I wasn't going to part with any money over the phone,

but follow up with a letter that I would want them to reply to in writting before doing anything. Very frustrated!

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

will do, I just wanted to get things in place and then follow up with a letter. I know that I owe these debts. I want to stop using my debit management company and I have waited, as I wrote to all my debitors offering a full and final settlement, they have replied now and the offers are something I can't meet right now. So I would like to stop using the management company and get something in place myself. thanks
