Based on the LHA rate, you should get your full rent covered (minus any deductions for non dependants or recovery of overpayments)

no i live on my own with a baby on the way and no overpayments as its a new claim, the only thing i can think of is as i was waiting for them to sort hb and income support out my ex was giving me £26.00 a week just untill i recieved first payment of income support which was after christmas, told the HB this when i made my claim.

 

Really confused now!!

the rules for single 25 to 34 year olds changed last year

 

the applicable LHA rate was reduced from the one bedroom self contained rate to the shared room rate

Yes it will change, in the meantime you can apply to the council for a discretionary housing payment to help with the shortfall.

 

in my experience, your situation is one that normally has a good chance of being awarded a discretionary housing payment, although councils have limited funds available, so you are best to apply as quickly as possible
