Hi All,

In August this year bought a Triton Shower from Plumbworld and in the last few weeks noticed that the thermoslat has developed a fault.

We have it on the highest setting and its only warm.

Not a problem as SOGA under 6 months, will email, no phone number) and ask for a replacement.

No, they reply, contact Triton who make the shower and get an engineer out.

Well we know the problem and my contract is with you I reply, another email back, no got to get Triton engineer out.

Now as its under six months old, I thought that FIT FOR PURPOSE comes to mind, cant find ceo email, so any suggestions please

Many thanks for your reply dx, it's a awkward one.

I gave in and rang Triton, who will send out an engineer at no charge after Xmas.

They promised to fix or replace it.

My beef is that if say a washing machine or computer etc went wrong under the 6 months of purchase, then you are entitled to a replacement under SOGA or refund.

It seems with something like a shower, that is bought from an online retailer, it can have its own problems

Best Wishes,

Karin

Will let you know if all sorted.

  • 2 weeks later...

I have to agree with Leakie - Triton are the ones that employ the engineers and from my experience as a plumber the engineers prefer to have the unit still in situ when they visit or they will not touch the unit.

While DSR's do apply if the unit is deemed not to have a fault and is something simple then the customer is in the wrong which is why it is best to wait for a trained engineer.

I buy things from Plumbworld from time to time and always found them to be very cheap and very helpful - my customers have always been happy!!

Good luck with Triton they have an excellent team!!

Comment about "within 6 months" is a red herring; this is only relevant if your claim ends up in court and it does not mean that your are entitled to a replacement within that time frame. Under SOGA, "the retailer must either repair or replace the goods 'within a reasonable time but without causing significant inconvenience'" (quote from the Which? website) and it is obviously also within their right to ask for the manufacturer's engineer to assess the situation before proceeding.

Like davetheplumber, have dealt with Plumbworld and they are no worse than other online shops.

yes..the only thing whereby 6mts plays a part

is within 6mts of purchase YOU dont have to supply an ind eng's report
