SAR Request

I am going to be submitting a SAR Request to HSBC, but as the account is closed and I have moved house serveral times, what would be the best way of quickly resolving the problem of identification for myself.

You will need to list ALL previous addresses preferably with the correct postcodes, the account number, type of account, will also help.

Check your credit file on Noddle (for free). This will probably give the trail that they will be looking at in terms of old addresses.

 

Give as much info about yourself as possible (full name, DOB, even your mother's maiden name).

 

And sign the letter. Preferably over a printed box of x or .

Don't give them the excuse to write back refusing to process your request because they cannot link you to YOUR data. Or that your signature doesn't match that on record.

There is absolutely no point in masking the signature when seeking information that is subject to the Data Protection Act it will probably cause bigger problems and or delays.

The request for data must be clear and honest!!

Noddle is free but not widely reported to and I have found often out of date.
