Hi all,

I have realised that we were missold PPI on a mortgage taken out in 1993/1994 from the then Midland Bank. I have binned all the supporting documentation after the house was sold. Is there anything I can do to recover this money, or will the bank most definitely insist they cannot investigate given the timescale since it was first sold.

Many thanks for your help.

You will have to get evidence. If you can't then there is nothing you can do.

Before you start, make sure in your own mind that the PPI was missold. For instance was it missold because in reality you were self-employed then it would be clear misselling.

Send an SAR to the mortgage company, the insurance company and to your bank to try and find some evidence of the policy, or the payments etc.

If you succeed then you can begin your claim. Otherwise, I'm not at all sure what you can do.

Have you sent a Subject Access Request to HSBC. As long as you dont mention PPI claim in the request, there is a slim chance that something might show up.
