I have received a huge bill from South East Water and an unfounded letter threatening legal proceedings.

Does anyone who the best person to make a complaint to? I'd rather not write just a 'Dear Sir' letter

Thanks in advance.

Yes, I am on a meter.

I know there is a leak, which South East water have failed to acknowledge. There is no way I could have used that much water. And I'm on the WaterSure tariff in any case. The bill is backdated for June-Dec last year. My first bill was in Jan, which was the first indication something was wrong.

How have you been responding to them ?

Is there a papertrail ?

I called them initially in Feb 2012 after receiving my first bill to query the excessive amount and they agreed to investigate and I arranged to pay by installments.

Some workmen did dig in front of my house eventually. I was sent me a letter in June 2012 telling me they had identified excessive consumption which would indicate a leak.

Then I received a legal proceedings letter telling me to pay the full amount immediately, despite having made my installments.

I'm assuming it was computer generated in error, but it still very annoying. There has been very limited communication between parties.

Ok.

If you are to take them on,then there HAS to be a papapertrail.

Look on their website and their codes of conduct/practice.

Write to them asking for a copy of their complaints procedure.

Dont be bullied by them.

Get yourself in the driving seat !

Hi 2cat

Write a Formal Letter of Complaint, mark it as such. Explain whats happened, how they have let you down and what you want them to do.

Send it to:-

Paul Butler, Managing Director

Paul.Butler@southeast water.co.uk (aren't meant to be any gaps).
