Hi guys,

My friend was given an MP3 player as a gift (Alba MP4200BUK). I wanted to put some music on for her but there is a problem.

Windows cannot find any drivers for the player. It doesn't even recognise the device.

I have Googled this and it appears to be quite a frequent problem for other people. I have the manual, and it basically says you just plug and play.

Hope someone on here can find the solution.

I can't even find an Alba website (not the manufacturer of this MP3 player anyway).

Thanks in advance

Have you tried other computers / OS's? Try ubuntu if you have it on DVD you can boot without installing anything, and it may just find this device.

If not, are you sure the device works?

If in doubt, contact a qualified insured legal professional (or my wife... she knows EVERYTHING)

Or send a cheque or postal order payable to Reclaim the Right Ltd.

Have tried Vista and Win 7 on 2 seperate laptops.

I presume it works as both laptops try searching for the drivers. But I must admit, no light or anything comes on. But it's

that small, I don't know wether it is meant to have a light or not.

I have blank discs, but I can never get anything on them. I am obviously doing something wrong, but I just get fed up

of things like that as I prefer flash drives and the likes as oppose to disks. Now viruses, I never get fed up of trying to get rid of them.

Often MP3 players are nothing more than glorified storage devices and may not need specific drivers.

Mosts devices these days will get drivers automaticallty but some older ones will require a specific driver to be hunted down and installed, doesnt appear much online about it though. (It may be better known as another generic manufacturer though, not Alba).

Have you tried connecting it to an XP PC ?. It may be there are no drivers for Vista/7 ?
