I have a payday loan with wonga of 900. I have lost my job and me and my partner have split so realisticly I cant afford to pay it back in full straight away. My loan is not due for a couple of weeks so i phoned wonga and told them my situation. They told me there is nothing they can do until my loan goes into arrears. Is this true? As soon as my loan goes into arrears i can start paying off the debt asap. Also is it to good to be true that they said theyl set up a payment plan once it goes into arrears?>

they will add a £20 default charge but that will be it as long as you tell them your situation via email on the day you go into arrears, do remember though they will attempt to take the amount from your account on the day it is due and if its not all there they will try for random amounts and get as much as they can.. you need to get to your money before they do (best way is to open a new account and have it paid in to that). Once your money is secure email them. Tell them what you can afford to pay back each month (Do not negotiate) and you should have a repayment plan set up within 24 hours really. They are pretty easy to deal with :) you are lucky its wonga and not wageday advance etc. hope this helps.

Pippin.

If it is any help to you, look in the thread with the heading of "WONGA,NO ROLL OVERS LEFT".I went through the same experience,Wonga explained that it is regarding breach of contract if they set up a repayment plan prior to you going into default.

Nothing to worry about, send them a quick message on their contact page.Empty your bank account the day before the payment is due, then phone up before 5pm on the day of default.otherwise you will incur extra charges. But please take notice of what I said in my last post regarding the phone call. They WILL FREEZE interest.I will not bore you with anything more, just read the article.

Regards,John.
