Hi all,

first post here as answers seem credible, and I am in need of help please.

Just renewed my car insurance and my old insurer are refusing to give me my 3 yrs no claims bonus .

The first customer service guy sent a certificate for 1 yr instead of 3 and when I called to question it they informed me that actually i couldnt have any because of an 'information only' incident that I reported. T

The incident was me, literally touching, the car behind me whilst parking but the lady owner had such a disproportionate response that I was sure she was going to make a false claim. (luckily I had my camera in my bag and took lots of pictures ).

I managed to talk to the underwriters who said the all the had to do was close what they referred to as the information only file and that my NCB should be intact. I called the insurance company to tell them and they said ok but now you cant have the NCB because my partners car was written off because of vandalism ! (my partner and I share a car now and he came onto my insurance after his claim was settled and closed)

So i guess i need to know if this is legitimate or not ? they have lied to me about the first reason and this second seems illogical - twas not even the car insured and they certainly did not pay out anything.

yours thankfully and confusedly

Your NCB is YOURS, nobody elses, just YOURS.

It makes no difference at all who is a named person on YOUR policy, the NCB is, and always has been, the policyholders.

Your old Insurance company are talking nonsense. They need to remove the information only detail from your file and then you will get your 3 years NCB.

Start taking this up the chain of command

good luck, Gordies

Hi Gordies,

To add fuel to the fire I have just experienced a similar situation. In fact I have not had a fault claim in the last 10 years or more. I recently changed from Fortis to Esure, my wife who is a named driver had a Car Parking incident last year Esure are saying that I cannot have a protected no claims bonus until I have been with them for one year. Could you please let us have details of legal ownership? of no claims bonus and reference to this in terms of Insurance legal practise. With thanks.
