I have received a call threatening action from Southern Water even though i am paying my bill, just not in the way they demand.

The original bill for £182.92 was requested to be paid with a first payment of £4.06 due on 04 Apr 2011 followed by 49 weekly payments of £3.65

Being on Incapacity Benefit this method is inconvenient as , obviously, i have other utility bills to pay as well as this one.

My payments made are as follows :

£42.91 paid on 21/04/11

£10.00 paid on 03/06/11

£10.00 paid on 13/08/11

£20.00 paid on 23/09/11

£25.00 paid on 07/10/11

£25.00 paid on 04/11/11

This leaves £50.00 outstanding, of which at least £25.00 will be paid this coming Friday 18/11/11 and the remainder 2 weeks after this. I have informed Southern Water of this but still they threaten.

It is ridiculous as , if i pay using their method the final payment would be on 23/01/12

Using my payment method they will be paid by 02/12/11, more than 1 month ahead of time.

My questions are, can they actually take any action against me ? Can i take any action against them for their bullying tactics and if so, how ?

Use these clowns complaints procedure, if they ring again tell them to foxtrot oscar and hang up, you do not deal with financial matters over the phone.

They won't do anything it is all hot air and idle threats, exhaust their complaints procedure and if needs be make a complaint to Ofwat.

Who ever heard of someone getting a job at the Jobcentre? The unemployed are sent there as penance for their sins, not to help them find work!

Just continue making the payments the way you have been. I doubt very much they will take action, but if they do, they are going to look like lumpheads !!

As advised, ask for a copy of their complaints procedure and then make one :)

Thanks for the advice. I did actually tell the guy he couldn't do a thing about it, but he disagreed, just before i hung up on him. I just want to be sure. I checked out southern waters site, strangely enough there is no link on there for registering complaints to them, surprise surprise.
