i work for a large company my problems started when i was suspected of having sleep apena they took me off shift work and told me not to operate cranes or drive, this was in march this basically left me with one job i could still do which is very physical and in high temps not the best thing to do when u suffer from tiredness anyhow i was then told i did indeed have sleep apenea and would get a cpap machine and my life will return to normal, i informed the dvla and they said i was ok to drive i told this to work and they said no i still couldnt drive at work until i see the specialist in oct and conferm that im ok now this means that the only job i can do is the physical one in high temps due to the nature of this job u are only ment to do it either in the morning and go on a machine in the afternoon to get out of the heat this i cannot do so i have to do both morning and afternoon in the heat i asked to be moved to another department i know this is covered by the dda but they keep saying they will sort something out but they have no spaces at the moment i know this is not true as the departments have people on longterm sick. i tried to keep going but the other night my body gave in and i couldnt face work so i had to phone in

any advice will be great

Hi Steven. Sorry to hear about your condition and the problems you are having at work, but at least you seem to be getting the proper treatment.

I can't suggest anything at present other than a grievance on the grounds that your condition has been notified to the employer, together with updates on your condition, however there is an unreasonable delay in receiving a medical assessment to clear you to return to your regular job. Consequently you are currently performing a task in an environment which is not helping your health and wellbeing. You believe that insufficient consideration is being given to your health and that the reasonable adjustments suggested by you in line with entitlements under the Equality Act are not being properly considered.

Hope that helps and gets you a proper meeting with improvements to follow.

Any advice given is done so on the assumption that recipients will also take professional advice where appropriate.
