hi,

wondering if anyone can help me.

i'm about do the first letter but wanted to check something.

when calculating the amount to reclaim can i claim back the full charge or do i need to remove an amount per charge to cover what it would have really cost the bank to return an unpaid direct debit?

also on my statement for 2002 there is a charge with an unusual code on it, i cannot remeber what it was for, and when i took it into the branch for an explanation of the code they said that the code was no longer used and although it was a charge they couldn't tell me what for.

can i still claim this particular charge back?

many thanks,

Well, Holly, if you can work out exactly what it costs the bank to return an unpaid direct debit, you're a better person than anyone else on this site.

It's not for you to prove their costs: it's for them. Claim the lot, in each and every case.

As or the mystery charge - if they can't ell you what it is (and therefore justify it), then claim it back. If they really don't know what it is, they haven't got a leg to stand on. Claim interest, as well.

Don't even think of being nice and accommodating towards them. They aren't to you. Get mean, get nasty, get legal and get even!!!

:D

What can you claim? Vampiress has a good idea:

Anything I say is just a suggestion. I'm a bigmouth, not a lawyer!
