I'm sure that some people with much more experience of dealing with Brighthouse will be along soon. However one thing you should be doing is to record your calls. If you could record these calls then you would be in a very powerful position to take some very serious action.

If you don't have a call recorder then all I can suggest is that you should start logging the telephone calls – time date who says what and least make a complaint to Trading Standards and also the OFT. I'm afraid that this won't deal with any of your problems short-term, but it is still worthwhile doing.

Don't worry about threats of the police. It's complete nonsense. If somebody make threats like that to you over the telephone then the best thing to do is to laugh at them and then to put down the phone.

As you just forgot to make the payment, presumably you've got the money so why that you just get it paid very quickly. I do realise that it may be outside your budget but a call recorder – especially a trueCall will deal with all of the problem. It will screen calls, block calls, record calls, log calls. You will never have to suffer this kind of problem again – from anyone.

Hi, and welcome to CAG

Bankfodder is absolutely correct with what he has said. Further to his advice I would add that NO EMPLOYEE OF BRIGHTHOUSE HAS THE RIGHT TO FORCIBLY ENTER YOUR HOME TO REMOVE GOODS. End of...

If you haven't read it already, our BrightHouse factsheet HERE contains lots of useful advice when dealing with BrightHouse. I suggest you make yourself a cuppa, settle down, and give it a good read. :)

If you failed to make your payment last Saturday, BrightHouse will now charge you a late payment fee (currently £3 per agreement) and will require last Saturday's payment PLUS next Saturday's payment in order to bring your account up to date. My usual advice to people in this situation is this: If you are being charged a week late payment fee, make the buggers wait til next Saturday then make both payments (plus the late fees) together! IF YOU'RE BEING CHARGED A WEEK LATE PAYMENT FEE, AT LEAST GET YOUR MONEY'S WORTH FOR IT!

But seriously, stop worring. Nobody is going to storm into your home and snatch-back any goods. Give the factsheet a good read... ;)

Hi

Welcome to The Consumer Action Group.

I am just letting you know that as you haven't had any replies to your post yet, it might be better if you post your message again in an appropriate sub-forum. You will get lots of help there.

Also take some time to read around the forum and get used to the layout. It is a big forum and takes a lot of getting used to.

Once you start to find your way, you will soon realise that it is fairly easy to get round and to get the help you need.

It can be bit confusing at first.

Please be advised that my time will be limited for the next few weeks. Thanks for your understanding.
