Hi,

I am currently looking for a new insurance policy, iv been on the comparison sites and on the phone.

I managed to find one for 1080 Third party Fire and theft. for the year.

I am currently studying childcare as an apprentice where i go part time to college, so on the form i filled in i put i am a part time student ?

I rang the insurance company .. told them this and they said they would have to change the policy.

My price is now 2400 for the year?

Is an apprentice not classed as a part time student ? as i do go to college ?

I cant understand why it has gone up so much

Thaaanks !!

tommy.king, that post is liable to cause upset, especially to a new member who may now get the wrong idea on how helpful CAG members can be, and was completely unnecessary.

I have reported it to mods

tommy.king.

Your remarks on this thread, and in fact on other threads, are out of order. You should refrain from making pointless posts where the sole aim is to get a point across. It seems that people have disagreed with your approach sometimes. This is to be expected on a forum. Your grievances should be expressed in a PM to a member of the site team (I think).

Anyway - To the Original Poster:

Insurance Companies rarely make sense.

I cannot begin to imagine why there would be a difference between a student and apprentice (maybe they think apprentices travel more :S )

Jamie did you find out any more ?

Things can be a minefield withn car insurance.

I recently had a renewal quote which was much higher than last year.

I went online and amazingly it was actually 50 quid cheaper-same insurer same policy no details changed.

When I called to ask they then tried to sell these little extras that before were in the policy but now are not.

So I decided to look at the tricks, which I found on MSE.

Here they tell all the little things that can make differences to the quote.

One essential thing is getting your job title or employment status exactly right.

Well worth a look.
