Iv got a senario, I sent some docs to DVLA along with copy bank statements. They sent my docs to someone else and when I called to say I havent received the copy bank statements back I was told that they are shreaded.

I then got a call from a random person who said he received the forms with the bank statements and if I want them back, I advised him to shred them..

I then called DVLA to be told that they have improved services and that was a 1 off. and after filling the forms correctly the second time they sent me back the docs less the copy bank statements and someone elses docs with a £6 postal order.

My friend then later did a request and his bank statements were sent back to him.

There is no need to retain copies of documents when completing the identification section of a CRB form. The details should be transposed into the various sections of the form from your documents and then returned to you.
