I have a number of debts with companies and am needing to open a basic Cash Card Account with Nationwide for my wages to go into. I have recently moved and although the companies I owe to are aware of my new address through credit agencies having it, they do not have my new phone number and it is not registered in my name. If I was to put my new phone number on the bank account application form, would this be given to the credit agencies, and then in turn the other companies?

Thanks in advance.

I suggest that you check your Equifax file and

see if your phone number appears in your

profile, then edit the profile to remove it.

I have checked through the correspondence received from the DCA and Experian (not Equifax), having contacted them both regarding the DCA obtaining ex-directory numbers.

They obtained my numbers through a system called ECAPS provided by Experian, to quote, "The information provided on credit applications is stored on the datatbase and is shared with other organisations, the consumer section of Experian does not have access to this information as the perspective lender does not submit the contact details to the credit file."

I do not use my home telephone number on any applications, only a PAYG mobile number that is not used for any other calls.

Hope that helps.

Dibs.

I object to my personal details being sold, but it's the small print on application forms that give them permission, it's seems an abuse and the only way to prevent it is by not applying for anything. How DCA's must have struggled prior to computerised days!

Tracing services have been around virtually

since the coming of the telephone exchange

system was automated many years ago, even

then it was relatively easy to get access to

numbers, I can remember as a lad 13-15 years old

wanting to find an address for someone and I had

only the phone No. all that was needed was a free

call to the operator and ask for thev address for that

telephone subscriber.

The cra did not obtain your telephone numbers.

Its your bank has got ur numbers like Mobile phone numbers to all contact you if they have you have problems with your bank and buliding only,

When you apply for your credit card and others they need your contact numbers if their got problems and conceans they have from the bank and buliding societies only who have this sort of information.

If you do internet ordering like online shopping the supplier can ring you up if they got problems with your card and others.

Credit references agencies do not store any telephone numbers.

I hope this information useful
