£12,000 rent arrears - on benefits

hi, my client has rent arrears of £12,000. he has been evicted now and the landlord is chasing for payment after the Court awarded in LL's favour.

 

however, my client only receives income support, disability living allowance and severe disablement premium.

 

could someone who is familiar with benefits please advise what sums can be recovered from my client's benefits? Would this be an Attachment of Benefits Order? Or a Third Party Payment? What is the maximum weekly figure that can be deducted? Can it be increased? Is consent required?

Didn't the client receive housing and council tax benefits as £12000 is a lot of rent arrears unless they were living in a mansion?

i look after them - i am a carer. they did receive housing benefit but haven't been well and didn't pay it to the landlord.

To have third party deductions, the customer must get:

Income Support

•

Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance

•
