i went in to boots last week i brought some items which i have the receipt for i then picked up a tester which i used on my hand walked to the door to see what it looked like in the light and was accoseted by a security card from RLP saying i had stolen the tester and he had seen me put it in my bag - it wasnt it was in my hand he grabed hold of my arm and said if i didnt go with him he would call the police i was in shellshock i said it was a mistake i was just so embaressed as people were watching he took me to an office with a woman and said they would not call the police if i signed a form saying i would not go back to the store by this time i was freaking and could not face having the police there so i signed the form i didnt really think about what i was doing he took my foto and i was like i havent done anything he said oh we are not prosicuting you we are not calling the police we just think you were acting suspiciosly when i left he gave me a copy of the ban but also another letter from RLP which i did not sign that but did sign the ban from from boots just to get out of there i was there for 10 mins max in a daze i think i was in shock i can prove the whole incidnet took less than 10 minutes and i was really scard the guy was very intimidating i looked on the web as soon as i got to work now i think im going to get all these letters saying i owe money i contacted Jon Crisis who asked me to send copies of the letter ect but i didnt as i really thought this would just go away at no time did the guard mention i would be liable to pay moneyso yesteday the RLP letter arrives the day after the incident happend sent to Mr not Miss and name spelt wrong anyway nil value item but cost of 82.50 time investigating 24.75 admin security survelance 30.25 cost of 137.50 will accept 110 if paid in 21 days- ive read through the forum and just dont know what to do if I pay ill be put on this register and this could effect my work situation HELP PLEASE

Do not pay, this charge is completely bogus. They were entirely wrong to detain you for 'acting suspiciously' as there is no such offence.

 

If all the allegations that have been made against RLP were to be substantiated, and the principle of civil recovery were valid, RLP would be a net payer-out.

Time to start your claim for assult & false imprisonment

 

Might also be a good time to contact boots and inform them of the behaviour of their staff and that anything that you signed was while you were in shock and under duress. Tell them that you will want to see any CCTV they have of the incident.
