Help please, very worried

Hi,

 

I was accused of shoplifting in a store that uses RLP. I was stopped in the car park and I denied everything, got in my car and drove off. I am now really worried the police are going to come knocking as the security guy said he has my number plate.

 

What is the likeleyhood of him informing the police and how soon would they be likely to turn up.

 

I am really scared I will be arrested infront of my children.

Did they ask you to go back in the store?

No, they just asked to see my receipt, but I didn't have one as I hadn't bought anything.

Seems your the first one to tell them to 'sod off'. They will need proof that you took something, 'it looks like he may have' on a cctv is not good enough.

 

If they really thought you had something stuffed up your jumper, you can bet your life they wouldn't have let you drive off, so it was just a guessing game because you didn't go through the checkout.

Thank you, that has made me feel a bit better, but would the police have come by now if they wee going to come??

If they got your registration number, they will have to contact the DVLA for your address first and that could take a little while.

 

AS I said earlier, if you didn't do anything, then they have no proof that you did anything so you shouldn't hear from them again.

 

It's unlikely that they would contact the police anyway.
