hi all,

I have finally decided I need to sort out all the debts I have accrued over the years and have ignored. I basically racked up a load of credit card debts and unpaid overdrafts as a student and never replied to any of the post or anything - just buried my head in the sand.

This was made possible by me moving addresses so much over the past 4 years that hardly any of the debt seems to have caught up with me.

So I decided to get my experian report, expecting the debts to scare the hell out of me, but in fact it seems like there is hardly anything on there! I haver a letter in front of me I recieved the other day from "Capquest" debt recovery chasing me for £1200 debt they purchased from Capital One Bank, but there seems to be no mention of capital one on my credit report!

I did have a capital one card years ago which I owed money on so Im sure the debt is real, I am just confused why it isnt on the report and if other debts are missing then how am I supposed to figure out how much I owe and who to??? I cant remember all the companies I owed money to and expect a lot of them have resold the debt to collection agencies.

I would like to get an overview of my debt and work out a DMP with payplan or similar. Any idea's?

Also my current vodafone contract isnt on there which I thought would be? thats one bill I have actually paid!! thanks for the help!

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

Statute Barred means you haven't acknowledged the debt for so long that they can't legally force you to pay it.

Don't ring or write to them acknowledging the debt is yours and they can do bugger all about it. If you make the mistake of picking the phone up to anyone who tries to get you to give your name or date of birth - politely say "I don't know you, good day".

The DCA is probably a scavenger who has bought the debt from Capital One for peanuts as Capital One know they can't collect on it. The DCA will now no doubt try and scare you into paying with all sorts of ridiculous letters claiming they can issue defaults, CCJ's, send the bailiffs in etc - it's all bollocks. These people operate and make a profit by buying the debts the banks don't want for next to nothing, and hoping they can prey on peoples ignorance and scare a few people into paying up.

Ignore all letters and if you do answer the phone and they bypass their own "security" crap and start shouting at you, just let them shout, chuckle loudly, and put the phone down.
