I got a 'parking charge' for parking in a disabled bay at a local store, and not displaying a blue badge. I was with my disabled mam at the time who has a blue badge, it was a simple case of forgetting to display it. The badge was available for inspection at the time by the attendant. If a contract was formed who was it with; my mam would not be able to read the sineage and dealing with a disabled person can (and was) distracting. It's totally unfair to be penalised for a genuine mistake especially as the badge was available for the attendant to inspect. Any advice.

Hi,

I am no expert on parking charges but I have read a few threads on it.

Was the car parked in the store's own car park?

Was the car park owned by the council?

Disabled parking spaces don't even have any legal standing in these car parks, so it was irrelevant whether a blue badge was on display or not; anyone at all can park in them, it's just out of courtesy for the disabled that they don't.

Ignore everything.
