Argos squeaky metal bunk beds

Hi, im looking for some advice on where i stand with rights etc, i purchased metal bunk beds with mattresses from argos online on march of this year, up until the last two months there has been slight creaking noises which is expected but now when my eldest daughter climbs into bed at night and also when shes tossing and turning through the night the noise that the bed frame makes is not only waking her sister whom is sleeping in the bottom bunk but also loud enough to wake me through in the next room! My partner has tried to loosen the bolts and wd40 etc but still no joy, am i within my rights to contact argos with this matter and whom would i contact?

Perhaps try a more viscous oil than wd40.

You are always within your rights to contact the retailer (nothing stopping you). Whether you have a right to repair or not I wouldn't be able to tell unless I saw the product.

Thats the difference between a cheap bed and a pricey one..sqeaks or the absence of !.

 

Squeaks by their very nature are normally just at the contact points, it doesnt imply that there is something wrong or faulty with the bed, but maybe in the way it was put together, bunk beds are under enormous strain so if any bed is going to show a problem its a bunk bed.

 

I assume yours arrived in flat pack form ?. Who put it together ?

If it was fine until recently, then it's likely that some of the bolts have worked loose a fraction allowing more movement. Any metal on metal contact point can produce friction and noise if not securely fastened... and can still produce it even when fastened.

 

I'd go over every single nut, bolt and screw and tighten them up, if possible get some of the stuff that locks nuts, it's a liquid you can by from most DIY shops and when applied to the thread, helps stop it coming loose.
