Wondered if it was worth suggesting people use one thread for all the way through each specific case (I think most people do this anyway, however others I have seen are split into stages eg, prelim letter in one thread, LBA in another, refund in another etc).

 

It's just much easier to follow if there is only one dedicated thread per case - otherwise there are threads that stop and hard to tell if they got further with the claim or not (unless of course you search for further threads by the same person)...

 

Just a thought anyway, for what it's worth...

Abbey-received DPA letter on 13/03, received some breakdown till 2004 waiting for the more recent ones(where most charges occurred)

sent reminder email on 17/4/06

called abbey on 19/04/06 to remind them:rolleyes:

sent another email on 26/04/06:mad:

Approx charges £2500

received £500 refund in dec 06

sent LBA

Capital one- sent DPA letter 17/03

Sent prim letter for charges of £260 14/04

Received a refund £109 awaiting further refund of £151

Settled IN FULL

Barclay card- Sent DPA letter 17/03 sent reminder 14/04

received info claiming £120

settled in FULL

I am trying to follow that rule myself. However, it is likely that most people's first post/subject will either be a question or a 'first letter sent' kind of post.

 

As the case progresses the subject will have no relevance to the content. My question is: I know you can edit your own posts/subjects, but by changing the subject line what is the effect on people following your thread?

 

Alternatively, I suppose a rule could be that when starting a thread for a case the subject should automatically be [name vs bank] or similar. I'm sure a script could ensure that posting to specific bank forums enforced this rule - indeed the forum and user name are known...

 

And no, I know nothing about coding or scripting...so don't ask...

Could be good, but I think just editing the title suffices - either suchandsuch case updated, or changed to a new more appropriate title like you suggested - it wouldn't affect people following the threads as the thread is still the same one, and then the entire history from 'Don't know if I can do this' to 'I WON!!' is all there in one place

 

Just my opinion anyway :)
