i had a problem with BCW who where conducting unauthorised searches on me. from what i understood to conduct a credit search whoever does it has to have your written permisson or it has to be stated in the t+c's on a agreement

 

i'm puzzled why a council would credit search you. have you contacted the council

 

i would report them to the ICO office

I have noticed a search on credit file from HFO Services - I had to contact their parent company Roxburgh to get it removed, they have agreed to send an email and written conformation to equifax that they shouldn't have run a search on me, they did advise that if I owed money that were perfectly entitled to run a search to ascertain my new address if any, and also, if you have financial ties with a partner, whether ex or not, they can search on you as long as the association is within the last 6 years.

 

The weird thing is, they have no details about me or my ex partner on their system, that is the reason for them agreeing it is wrong, I have had their solicitors confirm the action they are taking to remove the search.
