Hi

I just bought a cat d car from ebay, but the seller says he doesn't have the log book, so the cars not taxed and I need to drive it up the road.

What should I do should I ask the seller to get the log book sorted out before I treck down to get it?

Is this normal for accident damaged cars that they don't come with the log book?

Would I be protected by ebay if something goes wrong?

I did 2 online checks and the cars not reported as stolen or having any outstanding finance.

He said the cars MOT'ed

Please advise

A Cat D normally comes with a V5 from a salvage company as no VIC check required.

In the item description did the seller state that he didn't have the V5? If he did, it is your responsibility to sort it out. I assume he doesn't have the green slip? Perhaps you should apply for a V5 and get it taxed before collecting the car if it is a long way away.

I would assume the title to the vehicle will be ok, but in my experience never rely on ebay to protect you, they are a law unto themselves.
