To be fair its pretty abvious when members of staff of these great companies post messages on here.....they not very good at hiding it lol!!!

To be even fairer, that isn't a bad thing - in fact, CAG would welcome such postings where they are helpful and in the spirit of CAG. (Once they've notified Admin, as per the forum rules, of course, so they can disclose their reasons for being here) Those 'dubious' posters that don't do so usually get found out and dealt with accordingly.

Good morning

I applied to these earlier (something I'd seen down the line that made me think they were reputable) and made an application. I have not been approved yet (one of their advisors will contact me) and.as its early hours I'd be amazed if I got a call! Basically what I want to know is, are these guys likely to take any money from me as it stands as I've heard in the past of unscrupulous payday lender types of tanning people's accounts supposedly as brokers. I've taken the precaution of emptying all bar 3 pound from my account but they have my bank details (account and sort code) and debit card number and cv3 code. Am I at risk or do they only start with the underhand stuff after defaulting?

Cash Genie is a lender not broker

my advice - use the 14 day cooling of period to not proceed and run

cos once on the slippery payday road...

Yep loads of brokers out there to waiting to capture your details and set up continous authorised payment on your bank account to so that is reason really to never use these payday loan sites online cause this is how it tends to happen

I never had my account raided before or after default with PDL* but did fall for a broker so ended up with with my account cleared and heading for default with the worse kind of financial product there can be (payday loans)

*Guess should add that I never gave them the chance - que new bank account !

Hi Sullya1.

If it was me in your position I would drop them an email stating that you had made your payment back before the due date and can they clarify exactly in plain and simple terms why you are in arrears and by how much.

I would also suggest that you send the email to the Office Of Fair Trading too....

This is probably old news but I thought I would post it in the off-chance that it might be of use to someone.

I just got an email which went into my spam folder. I read it purely by chance. It was from a company called The Debt Support Company, which seems to be a reputable company which focusses on helping people.

This is the email -

Dear *********

We specialise in helping and supporting people unable to settle their Payday Loans, as well as any other debt you may have.

To request the assistance of one of their dedicated advisors, simply CLICK HERE.

Kind regards,

Cash Genie

It's probably perfectly legal, it just seems a bit dodgy to me.

There are a lot of debt help companies and they all charge fees, (have you noticed this company take 15% ????!!!!) when you can quite easily use CCCS or Payplan who DON'T charge fees for repayment plans.....how do you know this company are 'reputable' ? have you used them ?

I think you may be missing the point. I'm not touting for business for that company.

Firstly, no I haven't used them. I did say 'seems' to be a reputable company. I know nothing about them other than having a quick browse on their website. Secondly, my main point was the email being signed off with 'Kind Regards, Cash Genie'. Are they the same company? Would they share your details with the companies that they suggest they will be protecting you from? Would someone who owed money to CG be vulnerable to getting their accounts emptied if they used this company's service?

They may be selling/giving your details to these companies.....from what I can see they are totally separate entities...

Why, then, would dom@thedebtsupportcompany.co.uk sign off emails as Cash Genie?

Genuine question, didn't mean to sound arsey.

Agreed, get it to the ICO AND OFT. CFO are also doing this little scheme. It sounds like other companies are trying it out now.

Any advice i give is my own and is based solely on personal experience. If in any doubt about a situation , please contact a certified legal representative or debt counsellor..

If my advice helps you, click the star icon at the bottom of my post and feel free to say thanks

:D
