I can think of no logical reason for this change in the rules. I wasn't opting for a preferred GP, just one that was available at a time that suited me best. It has to be about money. It's always about money. I'm probably seen as a customer now rather than a patient. They'll probably start flogging me things that I don't want or need rather like my bank.

My surgery operates a Triage system in which a doctor will ring you back to discuss your problems and then, if required, book an appointment.

In one way, I think this is easier. I know sometimes, I've just wanted something like a change in medication. Seems a bit pointless (I knew roughly what was needed) me making an appointment for something like that.

I know when we had the snow over Christmas and I booked an appointment, it was cancelled and I was able to get the GP to phone me and give me what I needed.
