wife purchased an LG fridge from sainsburys, when it was delivered it worked OK, after 1 week the ice making unit stopped working.

engineer came and repaired it, said it,was "iced up" workrd OK for a couple of hours then stopped working. second visit engineer was there for 5 minutes and said the ice unit was cracked and that he would have to order a new ice unit.

sainsburys have contacted us to say ice unit was available and can we make date to fit it, but could not give time so will have to wait in all day.

 

we said this isnt goor enough, buying an expensive fridge and having it breakdown after 1 week and that we should have a new fridge, they said not can do as we should have reported the breakdown with in 7 days breakdown, and the best we can expect is to have it repaired.

 

Are they right?

 

also as i am self employed can i charge them for my lost time at work?
