These ads run approx every month here in sunny Huddersfield, west Yorks. Comm only prob means less than min wage!

The way things are going we may be being visited by Poles and Lithuanians shortly, do you think they could understand the rights debtors have?

Posted this in the wrong thread :p

It really is tempting to apply. I wonder if they would first check if you have an "account" with them like I do. I could get to visit myself then tell myself to sod off and put it writing.

I like Lula's suggestion - make your visits, inform people of their rights and give them the address of this site. Then do them for unfair dismissal just because you were honest with people!. I notice that 'honesty' and 'integrity' are not a job requirement - just a car, a 'phone and a few spare hours. Nothing whatsoever about the requirement for your knuckles to scrape the ground when you walk or having an IQ over 20.

Regards.

Before you criticise another man you should first walk a mile in his shoes. Then, when you criticise him, you'll be a mile away and he won't have any shoes on.

Don't get me confused with somebody knowledgeable by all those green blobs. I got most of them by making people laugh.

I could see that happening. Not only do they come over here taking our jobs and keeping wages low, but once they've made us all unemployed, they'll be knocking on the door demanding money from us.

Only in Britain can things like this happen. GRRRRRRR :mad::mad:

Last week I was with my mate in the company van. On a roundabout a Polish guy crossed 3 lanes and clipped the front wing of the van causing a dent and a broken headlight. Luckily he could speak reasonable English, but seemed very reluctant to give his insurance details, so my mate got out his phone and was going to call the police, when the guy offered to pay cash for the damage done to the van. My mate took great delight in escorting him to a nearby cash machine. £300 in cash later and we all go on our way.

Later that day we pulled out the dent leaving almost no trace of damage, and £40 for a new headlight. Good as new and that night, off to the pub we went for some free Polish lager. :D

JBW were also advertising for Bailiffs in the Metro paper this week (its a free paper we get here in London). Times must be picking up for the **** as the stated they had 10 new contracts.

There can't be enough of these to go round, same as there can't be enough solicitors to go round if every case going to court has to have a solicitor present.....

Nothing's changed except the scale which is bought about by the credit crunch and this awful Government. Debt Collectors are still profiting from other people's misery. That's why they are despised and rightly so.

My anger is aimed squarely at those in charge of these parasitic companies. They are the ones who really profit from the misery of debt. Moorcroft's ad is clearly aimed at people who are short of money themselves; who else (other than conmen and hoods) would contemplate knocking on a stranger's door and demanding money?

It's a win-win for the DCA; if the commission-only collector gets some money, it costs them very little - if the collector fails, it costs them nothing at all. The risk (and I suspect there's a real risk of assault in some cases), is all the individual's. Exploitative and deeply unsavoury, in my view.

I put DCA owners in the same category as the very unpleasant black-marketeers and other gangsters I came across occasionally when working in the Balkans during the war there. Always a veneer of respectability, and a pretence that what they did was in some way a necessary evil. They were invariably cowards who allowed others to take the risks whilst they reaped the profits. They never came face to face with the misery they caused.

Then again, since DCAs only do the banks' dirty work, perhaps we should just look at them like cheap whores who'll do the really filthy stuff for money. Bend over Ken, here it comes again....

Maybe a few Cag members with a couple of hours a week spare could join Moorcroft and pass on a fact sheet that shows how to do a CCA request, etc to people who would otherwise pay up out of pure fear?

I applied last year with that in mind, but they turned me down. :D I think my positive attitude and not filling in the application form in blue crayon was what messed it up for me.

Banks do not care although they got people into a pickle with the credit crunch...it is the tax payer that is helping them to keep their homes.... it will cost the tax payer 1.3 billion, Brown's proposal. What are the banks doing....cutting back on lending to people that are desperate and if they do give some assistance to the poor unfortunates that have got themselves into a pickle those people will be charged an unacceptable interest rate.:?
