I have recently started a claim with MBNA to reclaim back my penalty charges and I have sent an initial letter to them stating the total that I would like refunded (using a template letter from "the library").

I received a response this morning (week later) confirming receipt of my letter and assuring me that they will reply within 28 days from the date that they received my claim.

Is this right? Isn't there a 14 day rule??? Shall I wait for this long?? and is that 28 days from when they received my letter, or 28 days from the date of theirs??

Sorry there is alot of questions. I did go on to the FAQ site first but couldn't find what I was looking for.

If anyone could advise I would be most grateful.

It's a standard letter. It's your claim against them, so stick to your timetable, not theirs :)

Send your LBA 14 days after your prelim letter - you have warned them already.

Sit back and let them do the worrying for once - remember, they are the defendants in the claim, not the accusers
