  1. Just got a text from CFO saying that they had taken 20.00 from my account. It has apparently been taken off the balance but a repayment plan is not in please therefore could i call them on their number to get one in place. Ive just checked my account and nothing had come out so just wondered if this is a tacticto get me to call them?
  2. Hello Caggers Today I had a text message from CQ asking me to call them to "discuss a potential offer". I know better than calling these people.. they used to write to me but I put the letters away as the debt is over 10 years old and they offered a substantial rebate, at one point 70%! Now they start messaging me but doesn't say what it relates to or that they are a debt collection agency ..their message was: " Dear..,please call CapQuest today to discuss a potential offer on 03339997201 quoting ref XXX: Offer Code : Offer1". Should they not saying who/what they are?
  3. Hi Guys, Been a while since I've been on, and I'm now payday loan free, thank god. But I've had a text message to an old phone that I needed to power up to get a number, from Express finance saying that I'm due to repay two payments on the 8th of August 2013 for 170.00. I'm not sure who they are, the text has no name on it, its starts with Hi! I borrowed from Payday Express before, but this was one mob that I paid off! And I've checked back records, and they were paid in full over a year ago, and I've had no communication from them since. I'm assuming I've got the right company, and it offers a call if I text them back. Don't want to do that, so can anyone offer their thoughts on what to do or not to do. My debit card details won't be on their system, as I cancelled my card when I got into bother. Thanks Grumpy x
  4. Hi everyone, i had a loan with cfo some time ago and they took full payment for this loan aswell as taking additional money from my account forcing me to change banks. I have proof that they have had payment from me but im still receiving calls and texts. so today i received a text saying the following. "as you have failed to arrange a payment with CFO, all your numbers have been uploaded to be called continuously" Are they allowed to do this. I would class this as intimidation.
  5. Hi, A bit of advice needed please (for my mother, not me) My mother came to me last week, after receiving a bill of £103 from o2 for her contract phone, when i looked into the bill, online, i noticed that there was premium text messages from Lotto by Text, at a cost of £3.50 each, this month there was £22.50 worth of text messages, I contacted O2 and they found text messages going back to November of 2012, at a cost of 127.50 + Vat @20% Total Cost £153.00 I contacted Lotto by text and asked for further information, they have told me that on 26/11/2013 a text activation was sent back to them from the registered number, thus agreeing to the terms and conditions, and a contract was started. My argument is that the first message she received, she believes was in relation to a free text message about the lotto number each week. She has never replied to a message for them, nor has she been entered into any lotteries, or had any winnings or such from them. They did agree that they would stop the service immediately, and would be in contact with a letter, and an offer of goodwill in relation to the amount of charges, and the length of time they have been received. This morning, she received a cheque for £20.00. Personally i believe this to be an insult compared to the £153 they have earned from the service, out of which, my mother has not gained anything whatsoever, do i have anything that i could go back to them with to get a larger refund from them? Thanks
  6. I decided to put my son on a Monthly SIm only contract on his phone as he was topping it up to £20-£30 a month and I got one for £11.50 from T Mobile. I have just got the bill and he has been charge £27.30 for text messages from a lottery syndicate where they had been charging upto £5 per text. He is 11 I asked him what happened and he said he tried to download some wallpaper on his laptop and a page came up that he couldnt close until he entered his mobile number. Being naieve he did and thats when it started. What can I do. Thanks
  7. Have been with Asda Mobile since 2009 with no problems. Just over two weeks ago I started receiving text messages from Asda Mobile regarding set up details for Internet and picture messaging. Over the past few days I have had over forty messages. It makes no difference if I accept the settings or not. I have contacted their customer services.... nine people in all. Some advisors have confirmed the sending of set up texts has been disabled.... no effect they still keep on coming. Other advisors have said they cannot stop the text messages and claimed I have a fault with my sim card. Another sim card tried, again still the same problem. I was then asked to reset my phone with no effect. Next they said my phone was faulty and I should return to my supplier. I tried another mobile phone with my sim card and once again the texts are still arriving. I believe the problem is caused by changes Asda Mobile(Vodaphone) have made to their system in the past few weeks. This is causing the setup text messages to be sent out when my phone logs onto their network. My phone connects to my car phone system using Bluetooth rSAP, when I leave my car the Asda network seems to regard my mobile as a new phone logging onto their network and it sends out between two and six text messages each time. Anyone else had the same problem ? BDI BDI
  8. I recently received a text from 84433 which is a company called Mediaburst. They seem to be real and respond to emails. The text was marketing some financial service. I googled 84433 and it took me to Mediaburst's website where it said that I could unsubscribe by sending "stop" to the number. I did this and then emailed the company to find out where they got my number from. Unsurprisingly I was told that another company had used their service to send the text. I asked for and was given their details and again, unsurprisingly, this turned out to be a marketing company. I have yet to pursue them to find out who they were acting on behalf of but I intend to do so as I'm fed up with spam texts. What has really annoyed me about this is that I now find that I was charged for the stop message. O2 treat it as a premium text. I don't see why I should have to pay to unsubscribe to a service that I never subscribed to in the first place. The charge was only 10p but if 10,000 recipients of the spam sent a stop message, someone is making £1,000 out of this. I have a couple of questions: 1) Does anyone know who is likely to have profited from this i.e. will Mediaburst receive any revenue from the stop message? 2) Is there a legal basis for the charge? I don't see where there is a contract between me and anyone other than O2. Of course O2 has offered to refund the charge but I would rather pursue Mediaburst or their client (or their client's client) if possible. I think there is a real point of principle here and I'm spoiling for a fight.
  9. Afternoon all, I just answered the phone to get a text message saying the following: "Dear Mr. your account has been passed to (some word) solicitors, please call us on quoting " After googling the number, it's OPOS. Here's the story in short: - Borrowed £100 from MC in June 2011 - Tried to contact them because my card payment was going to backfire due to my bank stopping payments from my card as was in my O/D and had to pay that back first, they ignored me. - Charges and all that nonsense racked up to £799 - They sent 2 letters claiming doorstep collectors would be coming and whacked £100 on top twice for this, never turned up. This is the only communication I had from MC. - Up to this point I've paid £115.50 towards the loan. (£55.50 and 2 x £30) - Offered OPOS £76.50 as F+F, they accepted. - Capital Finance One somehow got my card details, raided my account and left me with nothing. Emailed OPOS explaining the situation (this was on the 9th of August), no reply by post or by email since. And here we are. Never have I given them my house number either so I'm VERY annoyed they've used this number, if my parents pick it up hearing that it's a message from a "solicitor" questions are going to be asked when this is a private matter! What should I do with this? I've got all the emails from OPOS still, confirming the agreement etc so they can't shaft me there. Any help appreciated, need a fast solution because I do not want to ring them but I guess I have to to stop them "texting" my house phone!
  10. Dear azzadle I am in the same position as you but I havent heard from them since last June when they took £75 [EDIT] from an account I had only had opened for a week. When I took out the loan with them I banked with Barclays this new account was with Lloyds TSB so still dont know how they managed to get the debit card details. When I emailed them on the address that I had done several times before telling them I would be reporting them to the police [EDIT] the email came back as not recognized I havent heard a thing from them since not even from this MT Collect or anyone else that people have mentioned on this site.
  11. Hi, I'm new on here, hope you can help Some weeks ago I posted my PPI reclaim documents to my bank (NatWest) and a few days later I received a text message from RBS saying, "Thank you for letting us know about your concerns regarding your PPI policy. We will acknowledge receiept in writing within the next 5 working days." This was about 5 weeks ago, since then I've heard nothing. Not received any written acknowledgement, email or any other texts. Is this normal? What should I do now? It seems from the text I received that they have got my documents but since then nothing has been actioned. Should I give them more time or should I chase this up? (who do I speak to?) Hope one of you guys could help me with this. Thanks for your time. Ginger.
  12. Hi, looking for some advice - I submitted a ppi claim to MBNA using the standard FOS questionnaire form a couple of weeks later they wrote to me asking me to contact them to verify my identity before they could progress with my claim, when after 5 attempts to get through to appropriate department (on hold for at least 15mins each time - number given on letter went to a recorded message then cut you off) I was asked to confirm my date of birth which was on the form I submitted originally!! Now 2 further weeks later I got a text message today saying " To help us investigate your complaint we require some additional information. Please call us on 01244 672143 & our specialised team will be able to help you" Is this standard practice? Do I ignore or call them - I think if they are investigating my complaint they have all the information required on the claim form? Any help gratefully received
  13. Bascially, crap finance one are one of the PDL companies I'm battling. They're not so helpful. Today, got a text message from them offering me... more money. They have kindly raised my credit limit (?!) and replying to the text would form a contract and get me the cash. Ok, I get that they're phishing for my new card details, but it strikes me as a little insane. I ignored it but then got a call on my mobile. Didn't know it was them as it wasn't from a number as such - came up as 0223. Thought it might be Orange or something as it's just 4 digits. Helpful agent asked why I hadn't replied and didn't I want the money? I laughed so much I did a wee. Have reported all this as it's clearly dodgy behaviour, just can't believe how stupid they are...
  14. I have been getting daily texts from Frederickson asking me to call despite them failing to provide a CCA Has anyone else had text harassment from Frederickson. Im investigating how to get these blocked with Vodafone. But if anyone else has any experience of this let me know i suspect its going to be tricky to get this stopped as i doubt laws that cover phone calls cover text messages as well.
