  1. Just found this in Credit Today http://www.credittoday.co.uk/article/14761/online-news/debt-buyer-serves-mack-hall-founder-with-court-order Wonder what is going on - seems they may have realised they have been sold a load of lemons!
  2. Hi all, New to the forum as I found you when trying to research the company who have contacted my partner for a £3000 debt he apparently owes. The letter is from Mackenzie Hall on behalf of their pursuers Arrow Global Limited and the original creditor Fairmile Partnership 1 LLP. The letter is dated 4th December 2012, however we only received it on Sat 8th December 2012. There is a "Payment Deadline: Noon, 11th December 2012". Quite a scary letter when you first read it, luckily over the 3 years me and my partner have been together I've become quite apt at dealing with these situations (he wasn't a good boy before we meet, but tigers can and have changed their stripes). This one has worried me a bit due to its aggressive and completely un-realistic deadline. Also the fact that while my partner has admitting responsibility for some of the past debts and I managed to get the amounts reduced or completely written off, if has absolutely no knowledge of owing £3000 to anyone for anything. I did ring them on his behalf just to state that due to his working hours he is unable to contact them within the required timeframe. The operator has said that she will post an enquiry on the account but she is unable to confirm anything with me as I don't yet have authority to speak with them. I asked if the enquiry will hold the account, but she cannot say only that "we shouldn't worry about the deadline". I hate it when people say that as in my experience it means we really should worry about it. I asked how long an enquiry will take and it usually takes a few weeks. Can anyone offer any insight into who these 3 companies named are and what the debt might be related to? Also any advice on how to proceed with them?
  3. Please can someone help I have received a letter this morning from Mackenzie Hall as follows Reference ******** Client Reference ********* Pursuers : Arrow Global Limited Original Creditor: Cyclone Asset Management Limited Principle debt £976.19 IMPORTANT - DO NOT IGNORE We have been instructed by our client to recover this overdue debt on their behalf. Our clients have informed us that they are unaware of any legitimate reason for non-payment of their account and although they would prefer an amicable resolution, they will not hesitate to take such further action as may be appropriate. Payment deadline: noon, 11th December 2012 this letter has come out of the blue, the past debts i had are all status barred so can they still be pursued I have had no further debt in 10 years and my credit rating now is really good. I have no idea who these people are and also have no idea who a) the pursuers Arrow Global Limited or b) Original Creditor Cyclone Asset Management Limited are, I have never been contacted by any of these people before and have lived at my address for 3 years. What do I do ? do i ignore it ? over the years I have had numerous letters from Lowell Finance which I have ignored but I know all these debts are more than 6 years old, but this latest letter has come as a shock as I have never heard of any of these people. can they cause a problem with my credit scoring as it is excellent at the moment ? Can they take me to court ? should I phone them? or email them? I apologise if this has all been talked about on this forum already but I suffer with ill health and am dyslexic so can not sit and go through all the posts.
  4. And another victory... Muck have been chasing for an old alleged debt which is statute barred and covered by my BR... Nawty boys... Got sick of the calls and letters now 'cos feeling sorry for the trees... I do not recognise it and it has the stink of a problem with Lowell two years ago whereby Freemans sold a pile of allegedly dodgy debts which both companies admitted and compensated for... This alleged debt has been through Lowell as well... Muck already knew of the BR so should not have been bothering me even if it was my alleged debt... Reports to TS and the OFT via Consumer Direct Just giving you all the heads up 'cos this may be a similar f' up as two years ago and anyone having this issue should check everything
  5. In 2008 I took out a loan from Welcome Finance for £4k later in the year I was forced to stop work due to failing health severe osteoarthritis and severe asthma ( had two bouts of potentially fatal asthma). I defaulted on the loan and had numerous phone calls & visits to my home from representatives of welcome. I was on DLA and my only means of support was from an occupational pension. It still is my only means of support as I do not qualify for any benefits because of the pension. I moved away from the area to a different county to be closer to my family in case anything should happen to me. I had enough on my plate dealing with my illnesses so the Welcome Loan became one of my least problems. In November this year I receive a fishing letter from Mackenzie hall at my current home asking if I was the person living at that address. This I ignored since then on the 30th November I received the following letter:- Pursuers Cattles Original Creditor Welcome Finance Sum £5130.50 FAILURE TO RESPOND NOTICE Dear xxxx Despite correspondences you have failed to respond. We have obtained this alternative address from a financial link from a credit reference agency. We have been instructed by our client Catttles to recover this overdue account on their behalf. Our clients have informed us that they are unaware of any legitimate reason why this has not been paid and although an amicable settlement would be preferred they would not hesitiate to take further action as appropriate. We trust that this will not be necessary and request payment by Payment deadline Noon 3rd December 2012 If you have made payment or have any issue then please ring 0844 411 5669 quoting ref XXXX If you are not the person above then please contact us on the number above quoting Address ID XXXX What du you suggest I do as I cannot afford to repay them that sort of money. They have only got my address from a third party as I have not reponded to any of the letters received from them. Please can anyone offer best course of action to take.
  6. Hi, I have received a letter from Mackenzie Hall chasing a Welcome Finance Debt. How should i respond? This is what it states: Dear XXXXX As per previous contact by our client Cattles, you have been made aware that the overdue amount of £19**** remains outstanding. We remind you that you have a legal obligation to repay this balance. Due to your failure to resolve this matter in a satisfactory matter, your account has been passed to Mackenzie Hall Limited. The reason we are now involved is that previous attempts to resolve this matter have been ignored. You must contact us immediately on 08444115699 and pay this amount in full. If you are unable to pay this account in full you must contact us to discuss the matter further. Failure to pay or respond to this letter may leave our client no other option than to commence with further action without notification. Possible actions that may proceed: - Home visit: The purpose of which will be to discuss your circumstances and assess your ability to repay the balance owed. - Legal Action: We may advise our clients to instruct their legal representative with a view to issuing proceedings against you, which may also result in further costs being added to the amount owed. Please do not ignore this letter as we may commence with further action without further notification. Important: If you are not the named person above please contact us quoting XXXXXX This debt is outstanding, but i cannot afford to repay it and it is a joint secured loan on a repossessed property. Unfortunately, i have no contact with my ex boyfriend and so cannot contact him. I have been burying my head in the sand, but not sure what to do now as this letter has been received at my parent's address. Can anyone advise as to whether i should respond, and if i should, what should i say? Thanks

  9. Hi there, Reading up on this forum, I understand that Mackenzie Hal are a lot more bark than bite, but I'd still like to know what I should be doing next. I've had a few letters from them regarding a Txtloan acct that fell into disarray. Knowing their reputation, I ignored them. However, I've had one today threatening "POTENTIAL ACTION" and that "NON-PAYMENT AFTER JUDGEMENT" could result in "an application to your employer for an attachment of earnings". Almost certainly twaddle, but I'd like to send a letter in response so it looks like I'm paying attention and so they know I'm not a sap. What should I be sending?

  11. Hi After being made redundant about 4 yrs ago Barclays continued to take a direct debit out of an account I thought I had closed. to cut a long story short I ended up £230 o/d I explained to them my circumstances, but it has now ended up in Mackenzie Halls hands. I have ignored all their letters which seems to have worked, but now have a letter offering me an instalment plan of £10 a month, which is resonable I suppose. My question is what happens if I continue to ignore them? as I feel aggreived to pay them anything, as I have a huge dislike for anyone that demands money and threatens court action! thanks
  12. Hi, This is my first visit here, and was hoping you could help with a problem I'm having with Mackenzie Hall. Firstly, I took out a contract with Virgin Media for Broadband, TV and Telephone. I had recently moved into a rented flat on starting the contract. When I originally signed up for the services, It was all done over the phone with a representative from Virgin Media. I at no point ever signed a contract, and the man from Virgin Media even stated to me, he will put a squiggle where I need to sign, so he wont have to send the contract in the post to speed things up. After approximately three months I lost my job and had to give up my flat and move back with my parents. Obviously, this was quite distressing and I just left the flat and did not contact Virgin about the situation. A stupid move, but, I was certainly not thinking clear at the time. Two years on and having moved to three different addresses I have had Mackenzie Hall track me down. I have not spoken to them or acknowledged anything. All I get is constant phone calls and text messages which I have since black listed on my mobile. At my previous address I began getting threatening letters. Could anyone please give me any advice on what to do? Many Thanks
  13. Hi, this is my first post so forgive me if I have done anything wrong. A couple of years ago my partner and I splitt up which resulted in me getting into debt with a Halifax credit card, as I could no longer aford the mortgage and all the bills on my own. I have now recieved a letter from Mackenzie Hall stating: "We are writing to notify you that Halifax has assigned all of its respective rights, title and interest in respect of the above referenced account ( including the outstanding balance ) to Mackenzie Hall Dept Purchase Limited, effective 31/07/2012. the total balance sold was £11812.04, as at the date of sale 3/07/2012. any payments made towards your account after 31/07/2012 will be forwarded to Mackenzie Hall, and will be deducted from the balance shown above. Under the terms of this assignment, and as defined in the data protection act 1998, Mackenzie Hall, is now the data controller of your personal data contained in the records of this account. Mackenzie Hall Limited has been appointed to manage your account and it is essential that all future payments and correspondents be directed to Mackenzie Hall." I have also recieved another letter from the Halifax stating that "the Halifax has now assigned to Mackenzie Hall Debt Purchase Limited the outstanding balance under the above account effective 31/07/2021." would anyone know if this is an Legal (Equitable) Assignment or if it is an Absolute Assignment, I recieved both letters in the mail, and they were not sent by recorded delivery. I know I have this dept and i would like to clear it as soon as possible ( although I cannot afford to do it in a single payment ) but I would much rather clear this with the Halifax rather than deal with Mackenzie Hall, as i have read some very bad reports about how they opperate. any advice on what I should do would be greatly appretiated. Many thanks bottlescrewbill
  14. this morning i get a letter thrugh my door off of a debt collection agency called Mackenzie Hall demanding i pay £759 in 7 days or they will take other actions. Bit worried as i had a stupid moment and borrowed £350 off wonga was going to pay it back as i did borrow once in an emergency as i had my car to pay for but when i did have payday i paid it back right away probably 2 or 3 days later this time i had greedy moment and thought it wouldnt hurt to re borrow so i borrowed £350 would say i wasted it and got nothing to show for it I kept Wonga updated on my redundancy and my job search to try keep these idiots off my back and one day i had a 1 time offer off wonga in my email and it said cut the amount you owe us today by 55%. So i clicked it and it said just pay us £400 today which sounded fair to me but once again i didnt have the money to do this as i was out of work. Tried emailing this Mackenzie hall today what a load of junk there website is the contact us page doesnt work and the email on the letter comes back as failed when i try to email Wonga said i would only have to pay £400 to clear the debt but this agency says i need to pay £759. here is what i get when i email the company on the letter Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently: Technical details of permanent failure: Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. 15. HI, im after some information, if any one can advise.. ...i had a loan with pounds to pockets which i paid for about 7 months, (was for12), unfortunately i fell into arrears and could not pay it off. ..now its been passed to mackenzie hall, and they have emailed me asking for my personal details, which im reluctant to give, im not disputing the debt, i want to pay it off, and have asked for their bank details to set up a standing order, but they say they cant do anything without my details, seeing as theyve addressed the email to me and ive replied saying yes i want to pay and p2p passed on my details, so they must know its me there dealing with.. ..i dont want to give my details there asking for, (name, dob, address, post code, tel no etc), i jus think its a bit invasive seeing as i have acknowledged the debt... ...do i have to provide my details?????
  16. I've had a letter from Mackezie Hall today saying they will commence pre-litigation doorstep visits to recover a debt. Less than 2 weeks ago I sent then the "doorstep" letter yet they seem to be ignoring it. Do I simply reply re-iterating the same again, perhaps adding in that I will submit a complaint to OFT for harassment if they do visit? I have just registered with Noodle and the debt they are chasing isn't showing. Do I take it that this means that it defaulted over 6 years ago? How can I find out if it is statute barred?
  17. As I have been getting some great help from this site regarding my old debts, I thought I would ask here on behalf of my Daughters Mum regarding a debt she has been paying that I think was maybe statute barred BEFORE the DCA started taking payments from her. I am thinking they tried their luck and hit the jackpot with her. Around early 2002 (She is looking for old statements today to confirm date) She was offered a loan from Barclays which she agreed to, she made a few but not many repayments to the loan but stopped due to losing her job and then having our daughter which meant she couldn't afford to keep up the repayments. On 01/09/2008 Mackenzie Hall took on the debt of £7,375.94 and took her first repayment on 10/10/08 of £40. Since then, they have taken the following payments: Statement Page1 Date Type Amount Balance 10/10/08 Payment 40.00 7,335.94 09/12/10 Payment 40.00 7,295.94 06/01/11 Payment 40.00 7,255.94 03/02/11 Payment 40.00 7,215.94 03/03/11 Payment 40.00 7,175.94 31/03/11 Payment 40.00 7,135.94 28/04/11 Payment 40.00 7,095.94 26/05/11 Payment 40.00 7,055.94 23/06/11 Payment 40.00 7,015.94 21/07/11 Payment 40.00 6,975.94 18/08/11 Payment 40.00 6,935.94 15/09/11 Payment 40.00 6,895.94 13/10/11 Payment 40.00 6,855.94 10/11/11 Payment 40.00 6,815.94 08/12/11 Payment 40.00 6,775.94 26/01/12 Payment 40.00 6,735.94 23/02/12 Payment 40.00 6,695.94 29/03/12 Payment 40.00 6,655.94 31/05/12 Payment 40.00 6,615.94 Am I correct in thinking that providing she made no more repayments from 10/10/2002 at the latest and because the first one to MH was 10/10/2008, that this debt would've been statute barred before they started taking money from her? Which would mean they have been obtaining money erroneously? My next dilema is, what should be the next steps we take regarding this? She has already checked her credit file and there is no reference to this debt at all, no defaults etc and it doesn't show on there that she owes anything. I only found out about this from her yesterday when I mentioned my debt that I'm trying to sort out.. She has been bullied by these people for almost 4 years, she said they ring her every week demanding that she checks she has enough money in her account for them to take, they have her debit card details and can take money basically whenever they wish. Last week she was apparently threatened with Bankrupcy and Door Step Collection.. She is a very small, shy girl with 3 young children in the house and shes now terified when the doorbell goes. She is also the mother of my daughter so I would love to get this solved for her, I know it would be a huge weight off her shoulders. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer
