    Free Dental work

Can anyone help me please, i was at the Dentist the other day for my check up. i had to have a tooth ground has it was very sharp and was cutting my tongue also the Dentist told me that my crown was in need of replacing has it had gone thin, I have had this Gold crown for over 10 years. I get free Dental work due to Disability benefits and wondered if they would replace my gold crown with another gold crown or not. when i first had it done I was working and paid I think over £200 for it. The tooth that I had to have ground down has a filling in it that has made the tooth look black and its on the side 2 teeth from the front. the Dentist said he could change the filling to a white one for £70, or should this be free also.T hank you for any info. pin62
  2. Over the weekend (21-22 June 2014), Ebuyer had a Mionix Naos 8200 gaming mouse on offer at a discounted price. It was marked with the orange banner they normally use to indicate a particular product qualifies for free shipping with no minimum spend. After adding it to my basket and checking out, there was no option to apply the free delivery that had been promised on the product page. As Ebuyer don't have any telephone support over the weekend I contacted Ebuyer customer support by logging a new eNote on their system. Their response has been shockingly bad and they refuse to refund the delivery charge. See the transcript below of the conversation so far: Me 21/06/2014 11:53 The product page for the Mionix Naos 8200 [redacted as the forum system won't allow me to post a link] shows 'Free Delivery'. However, when I add it to my basket and then try to check out, there is no free delivery option. Only paid options. Why is there this mixup on your system? I wanted to order during the weekend special for this item (£29.99), but it is impossible to do so at that price. Sarah 24/06/2014 09:57 Dear [redacted] Further to your enquiry, confirm that we do have a free shipping offer, and this is highlighted on a number of web pages however as with any offer, Terms and Conditions do apply. These are stated on our help pages. Free Shipping only qualifies on orders with a total > £49.99 inc VAT, so this item would qualify for free delivery when purchasing at the current price, but not when purchasing at the offer price. I hope this helps. Kind Regards, Sarah Ebuyer.com Customer Support Team Me 24/06/2014 10:06 Hello, This item clearly had 'Free Shipping' prominently displayed next to the offer price of £29.99. I took a screenshot of it at the time. You can view it here: [redacted as the forum system won't allow me to post a link] Please refund the shipping charge back to my card. Thank you. Sarah 24/06/2014 10:21 Dear [redacted] Thank you for your response. Again I kindly advise that we do have a free shipping offer, and this is highlighted on a number of web pages however as with any offer, Terms and Conditions do apply. As this order did not meet the Terms and Conditions outlined, due to being at an offer price, carriage was correctly added and this charge agreed to upon submission of the order. Regretfully this charge cannot be refunded. Kind Regards, Sarah Ebuyer.com Customer Support Team Me 24/06/2014 10:28 Hello Sarah I'm not sure if you're aware, but eBuyer actually has 2 different free shipping offers: 1) The customer spends a minimum of £49.99 2) Certain products have a little orange banner which says 'Free Delivery'. In these cases it is not necessary to spend £49.99. You can see an example of this if you view a product such as this: [redacted as the forum system won't allow me to post a link] Hopefully you are already aware of these 2 facts and I haven't taught you anything new. If you add the £9.99 product above into your cart, you will notice that there is a free delivery option when you go to the checkout. This is because the item had an orange 'Free Delivery' banner on its product page. In other words, it is not necessary to spend £49.99. As I demonstrated in my previous note, the Mionix Naos 8200 mouse which I ordered had one of those little orange 'Free Delivery' banners. Let me know if my facts about the 2 kinds of free delivery options are incorrect, or if there's anything else you need me to clarify. Thanks. Sarah 24/06/2014 10:41 Dear [redacted] Thank you for your response. Yes you are correct, there are two options for free 5 day delivery, one is available on orders over £49.99 and one is for certain individual qualifying products. As you have outlined in your response, the difference is determined at the point of checkout. Free delivery will be an available option to select if an individual item is part of a free delivery promotion. If the free delivery icon refers to the minimum spend offer and your basket does not add up to the required value, carriage will be added. I hope this helps. Kind Regards, Sarah Ebuyer.com Customer Support Team Me 24/06/2014 10:49 Hello Sarah The product I ordered was part of the free delivery promotion, as it clearly had the orange 'Free Delivery' banner. Other products which are not part of the free delivery promotion do not have that orange banner. If what I'm saying is not correct, then please let me know the URL of a product page which does have the orange 'Free Delivery' banner but still requires the customer to spend at least £49.99. Because I suspect what you are telling me is not accurate. If a product requires that £49.99 be spent (which is the standard offer that applies to everything), then what would be the point of adding the special orange 'Free Delivery' banner to its page? Can you confirm that you've visited the URL below and seen the screenshot I took? [redacted as the forum system won't allow me to post a link] Please refund the delivery charge as the product I ordered was part of the free delivery promotion.
  3. I travel to work by bus. It is nearly a 60 hour journey if i can make all the connections, sometimes more. Yes - SIXTY hours To help the journey go quicker, i bought a kindle a while ago. I always assumed I had to purchase books, but then I discovered typing "free books" i could choose from a very large selection and download books for free. This may not be obvious to some people... So, enjoy your free reading time
  4. From the Benefits and Work Organization. BENEFITS NEWS It’s been revealed that you are five times more likely to have your benefits cut than you are to find long-term employment if you are forced onto the work programme. A shockingly small 48,000 work programme participants have been placed in jobs that lasted two years or more – just 3.2% of the total participants In the three years since the scheme started. But figures already released by the DWP show that in the 12 months up to October 2013, no fewer than 242,973 sanctions were handed down for alleged failure to participate in the work programme And to make it even harder for claimants to meet their commitments – and even easier to sanction them - the DWP is removing all the free telephones from Jobcentres. It’s a viciously cynical move which has aroused deep anger, but it’s going ahead anyway. Meanwhile, it has been revealed that Universal Jobmatch, the jobs site that claimants are forced to use, is so riddled with fake and fraudulent opportunities that the DWP is not planning to renew the contract with Monster to maintain it. Monster are currently demanding a fee of almost a million pounds to remove all the fraudulent ads. The site is just one example of failures in the DWPs partnership with the private sector which has led MPs on the public accounts committee to warn that the entire department is on the verge of meltdown.

  6. Hi I was hoping to get some advice on what to do about my debt. I have: Card 1 £6200 Card 2 £4900 Card 3 £790 Overdraft £2500 Loan 1 £2310 Loan 2 £4500 Total: £21200 I can afford £500 per month towards the debt and have not missed any payments. However, the interest and overdraft charges are taking the minimum payments above what I can afford. How can I sort this mess out? Would I need to write to each creditor to attempt to freeze interest and charges? Any help appreciated.
  7. I received a ParkingEye Parking Charge Notice for £100. I had stopped my car on the corner of the central parking area at the Royal Free, and was waiting in it, engine running, while my friend went to drop something in to one of the wards. This took 16 minutes in total. I had not noticed any signs saying no waiting. However, I saw subsequently no waiting signs at the 'set down zone' which appears to be the area by the wall of the hospital, and marked with diagonal lines. I was not parked in a space, was not blocking a space, and was not preventing any vehicle from passing me. I wrote a letter, but received a letter saying I didn't purchase a valid ticket etc. Then I wrote another letter saying I was not 'parked' but sitting in the car, etc. I just received another letter saying my appeal was unsuccessful 'due to the fact that the car park is a 'Pay & Display'/Paid Parking' car park only'. I telephoned and was told that it is private land and I was not allowed to wait. Is it worth appealing to POPLA? The letter says that if I lose I will have to pay the full amount rather than the reduced one. Your advice appreciated, as I have been reading previous posts but still not certain of best course.
  8. Hiya Everyone. I rent with a housing association and they offer 2 weeks rent free at Christmas. I emailed them last week to ask which weeks they would be, and they got back to me today to tell me that I am not eligible as I am currently in arrears. In my original email I did acknowledge my arrears and outline that I would still pay the arrears for the two weeks. I am a bit gutted about it and also a bit confused, does this mean that when I pay in full for those two weeks is all of that amount coming off of my arrears? If not, doesn't that mean I am techinally paying more rent in a years period than people who are not in arrears? Does anyone know how this works? Thanks everyone x
  9. I have fallen foul to this company, even people like myself who thoroughly look into things before they buy can get caught out by these shrewd websites. Even when you read the T&C's thinking that you know what you are doing, they sneak in and get your money and its too late to stop it from happening. These people dont believe in following their own terms and conditions. You can cancel this "programme" within 14 days (which I did), However on the 12th day they had already taken £180 plus from my bank account. It certainly wasnt a free trial. I ordered my two free product's which was a months supply, you had 14 days to cancel, as i said I did on the 13th day. However I hadnt received my free products at his stage so on the 7th day I emailed them as suggested in their T&C's but no response. i called them 2 days later. The number has technical problems. called a few more times over the next few days, still the same problem. on the 13th day I wrote and cancelled. Unbeknown to me that they had already taken the next months money out of my bank. T&C's clearly state they take the money out of your account on the 30th day for the next months supply. I hadnt even had the 1st months yet. Phoned my bank, nothing they can do until it shows up on my statement, shows up on there end though, but I have to wait to see who has taken this money out of my account. From what I can figure out going by their T&C's, is that I have 1 months supply of A product, plus P&P of £4.95 and another months supply of B product plus P&P of £4.95. It comes to £180/190 plus a few change. Kicking myself is a complete understatement. I feel pretty stupid, especially as I always advise people to stay away from places like these. I really have no excuse. Safter I have wallowed in self pity for a while, i shall be off to my bank first thing in the morning to try and recover my money. I have to say that I was lucky the money was in my bank, or unlucky, but I had been saving hard for something I had wanted for a while, that I was getting on Wednesday, but looks like that wont happen now until I can get the money put back in my bank. I was told this morning from the bank (phone banking) that its unlikely I will get the money back. However I wont be leaving my bank until they do something in getting my money returned to me. I have a few bits and pieces of info that I can take in the bank with me. so wish me luck for Monday. In the mean time I shall be making a few complaints. I am also wondering if they have acted unlawfully?
  10. Have just seen this on Local BBC. http://www.thisishullandeastriding.co.uk/Tesco-Beverley-backs-plans-change-free-parking/story-19683071-detail/story.html#axzz2cX5aOjMv
  11. Like a lot of people have experienced the sharp end of Legalcare.co.uk free-trial, I too have been a victim of their dodgy website practices (very basically, I googled "free legal advice" and LegalCare came up, their website said 14-day free trial), which I trialled and didn't like, so I cancelled the only way I could see how DURING the free trial, by cancelling my paypal subscription. A lot of people, like me, found out that cancelling this way isn't accepted by Legalcare - Legalcare want you to cancel in a specific way (which they made very hidden and uneasy to work out how to do - hence why a lot of us have fallen victim after our free-trial ended). What is surprising about Legalcare is they are far more keen and VERY quick to send you threatening emails and Solicitor threats of taking you to the Small Claims Courts if you don't pay them their full-year's subscription, than they are about Customer Service and getting their website to be very clear about how to cancel (though they have since made some improvements to their site). That's the background - but here is my question. I have twice spoken to Legalcare's debt collection solicitors (GPB Solicitors) and have told them that I have done nothing wrong and that I never used the services of LegalCare outside of the free trial and that no one can force me to be a customer of their's when I've explicitly told them I do not wish to be.... .... and twice they've asked me to write in outlining my story and they will 'review the case'. At first I was happy to do this, but now I am having serious doubts about writing to a debt collection firm of solicitors who are considering taking me to the Small Claims Courts - not because I have done anything wrong, but because I fear they may use what I write against me in a Small Claims Courts. Obviously I am not a solicitor myself so I feel that anything I put in writing to them, a firm of solicitors, would need to be written by a solicitor (to protect me) ! What advice could anyone give me about LegalCare and how to handle this ? PS - I am aware of the other threads on this website regarding Legalcare and their 'sting in the tail'..... Many thanks.

  13. As the title says, I'm looking for a VPN to use on my PC and my android devices. With all this guff regarding Governments snooping on personal data, I thought I would try and protect myself and my computers. I'm not doing anything illegal, I just don't like the idea of nosy buggers checking up on us. So, does anyone have any tips on which VPN is best; is it hard to set up; do I need any particular skill to do it? I do know my android tab is rooted Thanks in advance
  14. Hello, Yesterday I went into my local carphone warehouse as I could not remember the date I took out my current contract on my iPhone 4S which was £36 a month with t-mobile. The girl in the shop pressed a few buttons and put my number into the computer and told me I was eligible for upgrade. So I upgraded to an iPhone 5 on £27 a month and traded in my iPhone 4S to pay for the up front cost. Today I registered a t mobile online account to track my bills and it says my upgrade date is the 1st jan 2014, in 5 months time! Also my contract has not changed from £36 a month, anyone got any clue?
  15. Ok im not sure this belongs here so please move if needed. So my child is starting primary school in september and we have received a application for free school meals form. It says you are entitle to free school meals if you are in receipt of the following Income Support Income based Jobseekers Allowance Garunteed element of pension credit Child tax credit (without working tax credit) and a annual income below £16.190 Employment and support allowance (income related) Support under part V1 of the immigration and asylum act 1999 So my situation is, i am self employed, i receive housing benefit and council tax benefit as my income is low, i also receive child tax credit and working tax credit. My self employed income for the last 12 months has been £0 ive broke even just. Yet im still not entitle to the free school meals. As a family we are living of less each week than someone who gets JSA. Is there a way i can fight this, we struggle at the moment yet alone trying to find another £15-£20 a week come september for school meals. Thanks
  16. This is real strange. I just noticed(whilst reviewing my financial situation) my electricity supplier have stopped charging me, it has been around 3-4 months. My direct debit which I set up with them 4 years ago has not changed, so why have they suddenly stopped taking money from me?? Nobody has read my meter for about 6 months roughly. At this point, 1. Do I inform them(backlash being I'll have to pay 3-4 months worth of electricity, and I'm afraid I won't be able to pay up currently) 2. Do I go online and change suppliers?? 3. Do I not say anything?? But now, that I know - I feel some guilt and must inform SOMEBODY! Free electricity is not right, is it? Please advise.
  17. My local council has sent a 'Pre court reminder' to us to pay £200, because we failed to send them back my child's free bus pass after she moved schools. I'll try to cut a long story short. My daughter got a free photo bus pass when she went to our local catholic grammar school. A month or so into her second academic year we decided to move her to another school in a different area a few miles away. We accepted that we would have to pay her bus fare for her journey to the new school. She started her new school and we were paying £5 a week bus fare. Two or three months later we got a bill from the council for £200 to cover the cost of the unused 'free' bus pass for the academic year. My wife called the council and told them we had no idea where it was and they told her to write to inform them to that effect. They said that they had written to advise us in November that we had to return the bus pass. As far as we're concerned we didn't get any such letter. Another couple of months passed and we get another bill for £200. At this point, we turned the house upside down and my daughter found the pass in a box under her bed. We sent the pass back by recorded delivery and thought that was the end of it. Today we have had a demand for £200, to be paid in 14 days, or they'll take us to court. My wife called the council and protested that we'd sent it back. They said said it was too late and we had to pay. They said that we had to pay for the pass to cover the period from the time she moved schools until the present and that, if we had paid by march 16th the matter would have been dropped. Again, we told them that we had never been told, whilst in the process of moving her, that we would have to hand the pass back. They told us that it says 'in the small print' on the back of the bus pass that we should hand it back in the event that she moved schools. We are being asked to pay for an unused free bus pass for a journey to a school that she doesn't attend, whilst we've been paying her bus fare to another school! How can I challenge this? They appear to be immune to reason. Am I imagining this, or is it crazily unreasonable? Would you read the small print on the back of a child's free bus pass? If anyone can advise us how to deal with this situation I would be very grateful. Kind regards
  18. Hi all, So i've been doing a lot of research into quitting smoking, as my previous attempts have failed. I've tried the e-cig, spray, gum, tablets and lozengers and they have either made me sick or gag or left me with dry mouth. Patches are a no go as i suffer from eczema so cant use them. So i've decided to go cold turkey. Not had a cig since last night, so nearly 24 hours in, and i've got to say im feeling pretty good, and when i can distract myself i have no cravings at all. I actually got to thinking that maybe these NRT's may be more of a problem than a solution, as your prolonging the nicotine addiction. What do you guys think, anyone just gone cold turkey and suceeded? Danielle.x
  19. What do we mean by free speech and what are the rules. All comments welcome..
  20. Folks Has anyone heard of [EDIT] ? A friend has mentioned some strange tactics for dealing with DCAs and just wondering if they could actually be a DCA, roping folks in!
  21. Hi all First post, so please be gentle! I just wanted to ask some advice about a letter I got from Debt Free Direct the other day. I'm in an IVA with them which finishes in May next year (thank God!). They've sent me a letter which states that I am obliged to send off my details to a company called Equity in Finance in order for them to look in to re-claiming PPI. One paragraph of the letter particularly annoyed me: 'We would refer you to the Terms and Conditions of your IVA which state that one of your duties is to, "do all things as the Supervisor reasonably requires". The return of your PPI pack is caught by this clause.' The letter then went on to say that they will phone me soon to ask why I've been so naughty and not returned the pack. Surely this is not right? How do they know I ever took out PPI? Or indeed that, if I did, it was mis-sold to me? This seems to me to be a last ditch effort to cream a last few quid out of me, with Equity in Finance paying DFD a nice little commission for referring me. Anyway, what I wanted to ask is can they legally compel me to return this PPI pack or is it all just bullying tactics so they can make their commission? Any advice gratefully received. Rich.
  22. Hard to believe! On 6 October last year I parked in the Maude Street Car Park in Canning Town to go for an eye test. As I entered the car park I saw sign saying FREE CAR PARK. As I was running late I parked my car, took no notice of any further signs and ran to be on time. Well 45 minutes later on returning to my car I had an £80 penalty for failing to dispay a ticket!!!!!! Well after appealing and writing letters they are refusing to back down saying that if I paid in 14 days I pay £40 if not I pay £80, the problem is I dont want to pay anything in this FREE CAR PARK!!!!! I do not live in the area so am not aware of these kinds of tricks that can be pulled by local authorities. It is unfair, and quite mad really. I am hard working and feel like these people are stealing my money. Up till now I have ignored them but they keep on sending threatening letters, what to do, or what they can do is the question I now ask?? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks:-x
  23. Hi, interested to know whats on my credit file but dont want to do anything that might kick up a hornets nest. Thanks
  24. Hi all, I wanted to make people aware of my current situation, and possibly find out if others have experienced the same. Last year I received a leaflet from my local council (Southampton City Council) advising homeowners to take advantage of totally free insulation. I initially was reticent about using someone that my local council recommended, and therefore my first application was via Sainsbury's Energy, with the work being carried out by British Gas. I should add that my application was in before the deadline of 31/10/2012. The earliest survey they could carry out would be February of this year, so I looked at my local council's offering again. They had teamed up with a company called the Environment Centre, which arranged a survey within a few weeks via another company they had partnered with called the Snug Network. The survey was carried out, and it was confirmed on my the report that the cost would be nil - nothing to pay at all. By earlier this week I still hadn't heard anything so I gave the Snug Network a call via the number on the survey form. I was advised that my free insulation was no longer free and that I would be required to pay £315 if I wanted the work completed. I was told that their funding partners, British Gas, have withdrawn their funding. It's all pretty complex, so I called British Gas to find out more. In my case, they are looking to reinstate my previous application through Sainsbury's Energy, but personally I don't think this is fair on other customers who had been encouraged to use the Environment Centre/Snug Network. I don't blame the Environment Centre one bit, the very nice person I have spoken to there has been very helpful and apologetic, and is still trying to unravel the problem. From what I have learned so far, Ofgem had warned the big 6 about not meeting targets on reducing carbon emissions and threatened fines of up to 10% annual turnover if these were not met by 31/12/2012, though any work carried out after this date would be taken into account. So, it seems a little odd that the Snug Network has had it's funding withdrawn by British Gas. It would be good to hear if anyone else has experienced this. The media hasn't shown any interest, and a call to Ofgem was put through to the Energy Savings Trust helpline, and they didn't want to know. TIA.
