  1. My card was declined twice in the past week and I called after the first time to find out why. I was told there was no record of any transaction or attempted transaction so I presumed it was just a glitch. Today my card was declined again and this time I called I had to wait for ages before being assisted and then I was passed from one area to another. As I live abroad this call will have cost me a lot! At the end of it I was told again that there was no record of any transactions being declined and that they could not help me but would pass me on to yet another area. At that point, I gave up and put down the phone! However, it has occurred me that the browser I am using might be the problem as I have made another small purchase using another browser and so far the card has not been declined. My question is, could the browser or its settings be causing my card to be declined. Has anyone else had a similar problem, please?
  2. Hi, I rececently ordered a keyboard and cable for my Andoid tablet from an online compny that specialise in the tablet's manufacturer. This was a month ago and it hasn't arrived. I ordered a case from the same company a year ago and it took about 3 weeks and had a Belgian postmark so I gave it a while this time. I e-mailed them a week ago and received a reply checking they had the correct address. They do. I heard nothing more since then despite an email requesting an update. It may be that they've resent my order but as it's been a while since I've heard from them I don't want to assume. It's not a huge amount but given the number of companies having trouble I'm getting a little worried. I don't want to mention names yet but does anyone have any advice? The retailer may not be UK based and if it were I'd assume that the contract was incomplete if the goods are not delivered to me. Am I right and what would yousay in the next e-mail? Any help gratefully received.
  3. Not sure if I am in the correct forum as this is not an issue or a complaint but I trying to find an answer. How can you tell when you pay a company it has gone to the correct destination using Natwest online banking. I know I could ring them up to confirm but is there any information I can go on that is displayed in my transaction logs? Got kind of freaked out when I heard on the radio the bank does not take into consideration the person/company name but just the account and sort code. I am pritty sure they are correct but it's just the back of my mind.
  4. I ordered a football ticket for a Xmas gift.... it never arrived. The company told me it would be with me the day before the event. I have emailed, phoned, many many times and cannot get anywhere with the company. I am out of pocket £108.00 and a Xmas gift was ruined. Can anyone help?
  5. I've been trying to make an online payment since Monday with Vodafone but I just get a message stating that there is a technical issue, but I do receive a confirmation email from them and I now have 5?! Please could the Vodafone rep Lee get in touch.
  6. I ordered mine a few months ago, now I can't access it, I take it you can only veiw it for a short period of time. Need to remember to print it off next time.
  7. Have I got a leg to stand on??? My 15yo son asked me to purchase an ps3 online bundle. He gave Sony the card details and they took the money. I have now discovered that Sony have kept the card details despite my son giving the wrong address and my son has now inadvertently run up a bill of £500!!!! Whilst I must take some responsibility, it peeves me that this company is allowed to keep these details without any proper checks and that there is no cap or limit applied. My son is not the only one to fall foul of this system and he wont be the last. My bank blames Sony and Sony blames me however, my son is a minor which means the contract he has with Sony with his online account is surely uninforceable? Sony do NO checks to ensure that their gamers and payments are legitimate and of age. Do you think i can get any of this money back please?
  8. I need advice purchased flights on lin to Australia have a confirmation receipt and have booked all accomodation and flights in australia now being told there was a mistake and I have to pay £540 extra to get the etickets what are my rights
  9. First time asking a question so forgive me if I do it wrong! I play an online game using my android mobile conected to O2. I purchased some "premium" content using my phone bill as payment. I at no time received the "premium" content, yet the cost shows on my O2 bill. I contacted the company who suplly the game, they claim not to have received the money. I have sent them a screen dump of my O2 bill showing the amount as due on my next bill I have also forward a copy of the sms confirming payment yet they still refuse a refund. Question: As I am on a post pay contract ie I pay after acrueing charges are O2 as a credit provider jointly and severly responsible for the content. If so can I claim the money back from O2 if I get no where with the company. Sorry if this is hard to follow, I think I have included all the pertinent facts. Thanks for reading
  10. I was wondering if someone could offer some advice. Basically I ordered an item online and was given an estimated delivery date. When the later delivery date arrived and no goods turned up I decided to track the package to find out it had been sat in a delivery place for a number of days. I telephoned the retailer who put me on hold whilst she spoke to the delivery company. She came back on the phone and said she couldn't get in touch with them and would send me a replacement item. The item arrived and then today the exact item arrived again. I checked my order details and it seemed the item I recieved today was the replacement item and the other one was the one that originally went missing. I was wondering how do I sort this out. Will I need to pay to send the item back to them or something? Many thanks
  11. Hi All, In August this year bought a Triton Shower from Plumbworld and in the last few weeks noticed that the thermoslat has developed a fault. We have it on the highest setting and its only warm. Not a problem as SOGA under 6 months, will email, no phone number) and ask for a replacement. No, they reply, contact Triton who make the shower and get an engineer out. Well we know the problem and my contract is with you I reply, another email back, no got to get Triton engineer out. Now as its under six months old, I thought that FIT FOR PURPOSE comes to mind, cant find ceo email, so any suggestions please
  12. Hi, Can anyone help with this ? Purchased a watch of an online auction (bidspotter) it had very little information on the description. Anyway, cut the story short I won the bid it arrived and it is not working eg faulty. I have obviously complained, and was duly told read our t&c's NO REFUND. Surely my statutory rights apply, as they did not state it was in a faulty condition ? The Sale of Goods Act 1979 makes it an implied term of the contract that goods be as described of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose.

    Online Car Tax Disc

Hi all, My car is fully insured [fully comp] and MOT'd until end of July 2013, but my Road Tax Disc runs out in a couple of days time. I don't have the ROAD TAX Disc Renewal / SORN Declaration notification letter that the DVLA usually sends out with the 16 digit reference number as I'm currently (temporarily) out of the UK in the EU working. (e.g. car is therefore classed as being "temporary exported" - which means of course that my car must comply/meet UK Laws/Regs.) No probs I thought - use the online DVLA service - I have the car docs with me and my registered keepers address remains the same - so only need to enter my Vehicle Registration Number / and the 11 digit number [Document Reference Number] on the front of the (blue) V5C [issue 2/07]. Details entered to purchase a Tax Disc BUT >> The system keeps telling me that I have not entered fully the 11 digit number ???? But I have checked that no typos where made! How do I resolve this ? Advice appreciated before I fall foul of the DVLA on the 01/01/2013!! Thanks & Regards
  14. I purchased some goods over the internet in September, the retailer said that returns would be accepted within 30 days and collected at their expense. Three weeks later, I sent an email saying I wanted to return some of my order to be told that this was ok and they would let me know in the next few weeks when someone would be able to collect it. I enquired two weeks later to find out what was happening just to be told the same thing, so I waited another two weeks before phoning them up. Anyway after a lot of hassle they are now telling me that the order had been supplied by a 3rd party who is not willing to accept the return as it has been so long! Am I still within my rights to pursue this? I know about cancelling within 7 days, etc but by placing an order in which their T&Cs state that returns are accepted within 30 days, I believe I have formed a contract with them and they are breaching this. Can I take it further or am I wasting my time? Thanks for reading
  15. Hello there. I'm new to this and have been doing a fair bit or reasearch to find out if i have a case for a PPI claim. I wonder if anyone has had successes with claiming PPI from egg and what justifications they may have used in their case. I have most of my paperwork for both my Egg loans. I initially took out a loan for £5473.90 in July 2005. This amount was made up of the loan of £5000, £473.90 of which was PPI. Interest for the term was then precharged on the loan and PPI credit figures. This loan was taken out using an online application. I took out a new loan for £8462.78 in Feb 2006. This settled the outstanding balance of the original loan and included an additional PPI of £1291.78. This loan was taken out over the phone. Interest was also precharged on the total credit figure of £8462.78. I actually dont remember the details on the website specifically or the details of the phoncall in which i agreed to the top up loan. I was however shocked at the value of the PPI when i received the paperwork but at the time was young and ignorant and accepted the terms. I really have no idea where to start and any help and feedback people have would be greatly appreciated. I guess a few burning questions i have are: - What justifications have people used to satisfy PPI claims with Egg online applications? Has anyone had experiences of the culture at Egg and selling PPI? I am aware Egg received a massive fine from the FSA, how may this affect PPI claims? Egg added the PPI sum and interest of the loan to the total amount at the start of the term, is this justification for a claim? I know Egg used pre-ticked boxes for PPI - has anyone had a successful claim using this a justification? How would the imlications of settling a loan that included an amount for PPI with a refinanced (top up) loan with a new PPI figure, esentially a quantity of the second loan should have been covered by PPI from the first loan and therefor a 'top up' PPI should have been sold. I can't remember is there was any sale pitch for the second PPI from the phone call where the loan was agreed. Has anyone had expereiences of this with Egg and cultural 'goings on' around this time? I have read through a few of the forums and Egg (now Barclays) seem to be quite keen to fight cases of PPI claims so i want to make sure that any letter drafted is clear and precise justifying any case there may be. Many thanks for any help or advice in advance Regards Jamie

  17. Hi all Background: Last year I joined my local branch of the Royal British Legion. The RBL have a website for members to order items. I ordered 2 lapel membership badges from the site, paid and promptly forgot all about them. Today I decided to order a lapel membership badge and saw my old order which I never received. I contacted them on their telephone number and spoke to one of their agents. He was very helpful but said as it was an old order there was probably very little they could do. Is there a time limit on when I can claim an item was lost in the post? The order was September 2011.
  18. Hi everyone, Just looking for some advice really, is there anyway I could sign up for my housing benefit online so I can check when payments been made ete? Just wondering if this is possible? any help would be great cheers!
  19. I was looking for a magazine and came across Pocket mags website. I saw a magazine I was interested in reading and bought a one off copy. There is a tick box to indicate that you are buying a one off subscription. Today I checked on my current account and noticed a payment marked "Magazinecloner.Com Ltd 1************90 - Recurring Visa Transaction" If I had known it was a recurring VISA transaction payment I would never have purchased from the site. Surely this is a fraudulent as I never agreed to the recurring transaction. As a matter of fact, I would never agree to any card recurring transaction with any company. I have no objection to the one payment, but strenuously object to the recurring VISA transaction. I emailed the company and this is the reply; The recurring subscription is a stipulation on all Apple subscriptions, which is implemented by Apple not us. A user can’t subscribe unless the subscription is in a recurring manner. To cancel the recurring subscription, you can find instructions here http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4098 . If you’d like a refund, please contact Apple, as the transaction would’ve gone through them. To do this, click ‘report a problem’ next to the item in your iTunes purchase history. I have a Windows 7 PC and do not use Apple products let alone iTunes as I don't downloads apps. Nowhere on the website does it indicate that it is a Apple subscription. I am normally very careful and cannot believe that I have been conned this way. Especially as I have never been an Apple customer! I have Win 7 and detest Apple products as think they are over priced and would never use iTunes anyway. I have contacted my bank, Nationwide and asked them to make sure that any recurring transactions are cancelled, but not sure if they will honour my request or trot out a dozen excuses. Is there anything else I can do?
  20. My husband applied for a loan from Santander on 6th Nov on line . After submitting to application there was no delay in telling him he had been accepted all he had to wait for before they would transfer the money to his account was a credit agreement signature which arrived today. On looking through the paperwork I noticed that the loan he applied for was £418 more in interest charges than was stated on the website! He has rang the department to find out why this is and was told to and look at his credit rating with Experian as it could have been that.. I have checked all this today and there are no problems there? he has a very good credit rating so rang Santander and have been told he doesn't have to have a bad rating for these things to happen? can we make a complaint to anyone? I am furious !
  21. In a moment of madness I paid a three month subscription to an online dating site. Initially I was a free member but then I had an email from them saying that two people had private messaged me. When I went to view the messages, it said that I had to pay a subcription to view the messages. Because I thought that the people must have viewed my profile and be genuinely interested, I went ahead and chose the cheapest option which was for three months. However, once I viewed the messages it was immediately apparent that they were just a mail shot of general 'ice breakers' sent to everyone and weren't private at all and the people who sent them hadn't even viewed my profile. I immediately messaged the support department and asked for a refund but the office is currently closed and I notice in the small print that they say that you can't cancel within 7 days 'if you use the services at all'. Would my viewing the messages be construed as using the site? Even though I was misled? I would also like to know what I need to do to make sure that that they can't take any money out of my account in the future as they have my debit card details. Thanks for any advice.
  22. Hi I hope someone can advise. My daughter has been living with me for past 3 years and in that time she has signed up to a catalogue in my name without my permission online. I have had no knowledge of this until she has now moved out. She has intercepted any post from the catalogue and seems to have been paying it. I found out after she left on bad terms, questioned her as to whether she is going to continue paying it and she is refusing. I have no permanent address for her. Where do I stand with getting this debt out of my name? Thanks
  23. Online shopping: Your rights Goods must be delivered within 30 days, unless agreed otherwise You can cancel an order within seven working days in most cases (longer for financial products) and get a full refund The refund should include any delivery charges, although you may have to pay for returns You don't have to return the goods in their original packaging You are responsible for the safe return of items The retailer would have to pay for return postage if the items are going back because they are faulty or not as ordered
  24. Hi, I bought some building supplies from an online merchant last month on a Friday, due for delivery on the following Monday. Over the weekend I decided I no longer needed them and rather than sign for them, I refused delivery. I emailed them after the weekend to let them know I was cancelling the order, and wanted a refund. Now they have turned around and said they will charge £80 as I refused to accept delivery. This was quite surprising as the original cost of delivery was only £35 anyway! Can they do that? I never signed for anything, gave written notice of my intent to cancel within seven working days and they have acknowledged that they have received the returned goods. The only thing in their terms and conditions says that if they have to arrange collection, they will charge £80, but the courier just sent them back as undelivered. Even then, compared to the original delivery cost, that seems rather excessive. Thanks in advance
  25. Friend had a letter from MoorCrap last week. Wrote them a bog off letter and went online to fill out an I&E form even though my letter told them only a Judge can request this. Anyway, I fileld it in with a list of the other creditors and amounts and it automatically works out a pro-rata payment offer to everyone. Very clever. But.. As the amount MoorCrap are chasing is less than half of what is owed to the others, their own I&E said that the pro rata paymment to MoorCrap is £0.00 LOL. Everyone else gets 5p and 8p for theb igger debts lol!
