  1. hi guys, i have a natwest credit card but every month i pay two different amounts of interest. what could this be?? any ideas?? regards sirel.
  2. Afternoon all, After running into difficulties in 2009 I had a DD paid when no funds were in the account and no overdraft in place. Then had charges and interest on top. Eventually resulted in CCJ by Fredrickson International, Natwests Collection agents of £884.79 + £147 charges + 1031.79 as I was not in a position to repay. I sent an SAR to Natwest who sent all of the information back to me. I sent a letter requesting the charges for unpaid DD, unauthorised OD fees on 01/04/2012, total of £902.81 + £205.38 for interest I was unfairly deprived of - total £1108.19, this being more than the CCJ amount. I received four letters dated 13/04, 11/05, 30/05 and 29/06 saying thank you for my patience, they were still looking into the matter and that they would be in touch by a set date. I then got a response on 19/07/12 saying sorry about my complaint but that the bank had acted correctly in levying the charges and that they had decided not to uphold my complaint, they enclosed a cheque for £100 for the length of time taken to respond. Then saying that was the final response to my complaint and that I have the right to refer my complaint to FOS and that I would need to do within 6 months. Is the Financial Ombuudsman Service a viable route to proceed? If so how do I go about it? Thanks
  3. Hi all, I've recently sent a SAR to Natwest requesting quite literally all data held on myself which was individually specified in a letter all the items i require, however I have not received any statements whatsoever, kinda just wondering where I would go from here? All the best, John.
  4. Hi I sent a claim about mis-sold PPI to Natwest which was delivered and signed for on 7th September. I received a reply on 17th September asking for proof of my new address. I sent this by return of post and it was delivered and signed for on 18th. I hadn't heard anything after 8 weeks i rang RBS who said there was no record of any mail being received. I was advised to take the info into a branch and ask them to fax it through. I did this and stated that as they had exceeded the 8 week deadline I wanted a reply within 14 days. I received the standard letter advising that the complaint was being investigated. After 3 weeks I called again and was told that as they did not receive the proof of address until 21st November this was when the clock started ticking. Does anyone have an email address for the CEO of RBS so I can make a complaint? Thanks in anticipation suvin
  5. hi, i was wondering if anybody could answer my queries. i wrote off to Natwest, enquiring if i was due any PPI from previous loans. They have wrote back to me with two loans i previously had, and a good will gesture. They claim that they cannot process any information from what was offered to me etc etc, your usual generic letter and therefore offer me this gesture. I personally see this as a way of fobbing me off because theyd rather entice me with this cash, than pay the full amount due. Here are the details 1) Jan 2008 - £1000 loan APR 28.1% (closed July 2008 - i assume that i payed this off with loan 2) 2) July 2008 - £1900 Loan APR 28.2%( closed Aug 2011) On loan two, i had been paying 91.27 for 3 years and 1 month. In this time, i had claimed the insurance, which the bank paid out 4 times (due to being out of work). They gesture they have offered me is as follows: Total refund of PPI and associated interest paid to date: £267.98 Gross Interest: £44.82 Less Tax (20%): £8.96 Net Interest: £35.86 Total: £303.84 Of course, taking their offer would help me out now. But, i cant help but feel fobbed off. And although its not 1000's like many other peoples claims, even an extra 50-100 quid would be great in this day and age. Any help on my next steps would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Jordan
  6. Hi, if anyone can help, I'm very desperate! So my story begins, 2 weeks ago I received €10,000 (around £8,000) into my Natwest current account. The money was owed to my Partner for months of unpaid freelance work. Instead of my Partner receiving the money, we decided it would be sent to my account as the rent and bills leave my account and we were 2 months overdue on rent (due to the fact he hadn't been paid). The person who sent the money, sent it from their personal account in France. I paid my bills and 2 days later i tried to check my online balance and could not login. I called Natwest who put me through to their fraud department who told me that they had received a SWIFT message saying that the funds sent to my account were fraudulent and they started asking questions about who sent the money, and when I explained the situation, they started asking how long i'd been with my partner etc. I was told that if this was a mistake, I needed to contact the person who had sent the money and they needed to get their bank to send another SWIFT message to Natwest explaining there had been a mistake and the payments weren't fraudulent. This all happened on Friday afternoon. On Monday, the person who had sent the money told me his bank was closed so I needed to tell Natwest that the SWIFT would be sent on Tuesday. I decided to wait until Tuesday to let Natwest know - but on Tuesday his bank in France (LCL) said that they had not sent the original fraud message, they had not been notified of any fraud and it must have been an intermediary bank, so due to this, they were not able to send a SWIFT to Natwest. I phoned Natwest and explained the situation and was told that either way, my account was now closed. I asked what happened to the funds in my account and was told that they were being held and would be returned to the sender. I was also told that a letter would be sent out to confirm this. My salary was to be paid to me that Friday and I was told that I could access that at a bank branch. When I went to my branch, I was given about £200 out of my £2050 pay......I was told that since my account was now closed, I was in credit for my £2000 overdraft and I had been charged a £6 daily fee and this is what was remaining. On a side note, I had moved £250 of the transfer to my savings, which was effectively mine (but taken to cover part of the overdraft) - so if I had been involved in fraud, why wouldn't I have taken all the money out as cash or moved it all to my savings account??? Anyway, so the situation now is that I have still not received any information concerning my account, I have no bank account, I cannot open an account (I tried opening an account with Halifax and was told to check my credit report as I was turned down), all my cash has been taken my Natwest, either being held or used to pay my overdraft (and its 1 month to Xmas to not exactly the best time for me!) but I was told to provide full information to the Natwest Concerns Team if I felt there had been a mistake - which I have now done, covering every details, even the origin of the money in the French account, proving that no fraud could have occurred. The company I work for offer legal advice so I spoke to a lawyer briefly and they told me that I need to follow Natwest complaint procedure and if I don't get the right result I need to contact the Ombudsman. I suggested going to the police but they told me that unless a crime has been committed, the police will not investigate. That's all fine but all of this takes time and I'm in a very desperate situation. Luckily the person sending the money has been very helpful and has been very open with his finances, so I can't see any case of fraud (also if fraud had occurred, why has his account not been closed or investigated, why just mine?). Should I hire a lawyer? I saw County court was suggested, how do I do this? Any advice, please let me know (and sorry for the long long message). Also, if this helps, I've been with Natwest for 7 years - and never ever had any problems.
  7. Hi all, Looking for a bit of advice. My partner has banked with Natwest for several years and had a £400 overdraft on her current account. About 18 months ago her house was broken into and documentation / ID was taken. Several months later she started to get letters from Natwest saying she owed them over £1000. She has disputed this and the Natwest fraud team said they could not prove it was fraudulent and she would have to pay up. She refused to pay and the debt was passed to Moorcroft debt recovery limited. Following threatening letters she had accepted that she would just have to pay the debt even though it wasn't hers so started paying Moorcroft an agreed payment of £50 a month. Since she has told me about this I have told her to stop payments to Moorcroft and I have sent a SAR to Natwest. Firstly can anybody provide a template to send to the DCA to explain the dispute and stop letters of home visits, court action etc. When I receive the SAR back from Natwest I hope to find some information that will give us an idea of were the debt has come from and a way of proving it is fraudulent. In the meantime should we pay the DCA the £400 that is actually her debt? (Minus the 3 x £50 payments she has made) Any help is appreciated. Mike
  8. Hi, I have had no response from NatWest after sending them a SAR by recorded delivery, and then after around 50 days I then sent a reminder with a 7 day deadline, also by recorded delivery. I sent a £10 postal order with the original request. I havent heard a single thing from them in response to either letter. Can anyone please advise me as to what I should do next? Thank you, Marc
  9. Hi, I had a CCJ with Natwest in mid 2007. The CCJ was for approx £15K and I was ordered to pay £10 per month by the Judge. A charger was also unsucessful. I recently SAR'd Natwest for PPI and I have noticed from both my credit files and bank statements that they have been charging me up to £100 per month since the CCJ in Interest up until November 2011 when they finally stopped. I was not aware they were doing this as I have NEVER received a statement since the CCJ for my current account I only receive an annual statement from shoesmiths for the loan. I am furious as my current account now shows as £6.5k in arrears! this has added a whopping £3.5k onto the debt that I knew nothing about. I recently just won my PPI for £3.5K which they are crediting back to the loan so I feel this was a waste of time becasue I am still in exactly the same position as I was when the CCJ was entered in 2007. Is there anything I can do about this? I know judgements over £5K can still attract interest but I tohught they had to tell you and send you statements. My debt will never be paid off at this rate as I only pay £10 per month as it is. I really hoped the PPI win would make the balance go down but it's not. I am so angry. Even more so because they pressured me into the loan which got me in this mess in the first place, The salesman made up fake income to get it passed and made me have PPI. All this was stated in my PPI Fos Q so I wasn't suprised when they coughed up straight away without any arguments. I know it's my responsibilty and I took the debt but I am devastated to see my balance rise so drastically.
  10. RBS and NatWest current account customers will no longer receive monthly paper bank account statements, unless they opt back into the system. The banking group has been writing to customers to inform them that statements will only be sent in the post every three months. Those who want letters delivered will need to contact the bank. The policy marks the latest element in the shift towards information being provided online. Most major banks still provide monthly paper statements, but there have been changes for some new account holders and students. 'Not compulsory' In one of the most significant shifts in the move from mail correspondence to online, the RBS Group has been writing to seven million customers informing them of the shift to quarterly statements. A spokesman for the group said this was in response to customer feedback and requests. There will also be a cost-saving element to the move. "The change is not compulsory and we will continue to send monthly statements to customers who ask us to," the banking group said. "They can request that by going into their nearest branch, calling us, or completing an online form. For our customers who go on to receive quarterly statements, they can easily keep track of their money by requesting free mobile text and email alerts" http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-20137918.
  11. Hi everyone, I currently owe £502.46 to Robinson Way on behalf of their client Natwest. I defaulted on my account on the date 30/06/2011. I definitely had no Overdraft with Natwest so the only way i could have defaulted with these [EDIT] is if they kept charging me for charges etc. I'm in a position where i want my credit file to be at a good level and this unfair default isn't helping. I sent a letter to Robinson Way asking them to stop chasing the debt as i want the default removed for unfair charges, opened a letter this morning which basically said no Natwest won't remove the default. I've had letters from Robinson Way and other debt collectors offering me discounts on the debt (even as much as 50%) but unfortunately, i was stupid enough to shred the letters but as far as I'm aware Robinson Way are still offering this discount. Do i have a case to get this default removed or even get the debt cleared? It's all made up of charges as far as I'm aware. What letter do i send Natwest? Should i only deal with Natwest? Thanks for any help.
  12. My bank has returned my direct debit to EDF with the reason being 'account holder deceased'! I received 3 letters from EDF to my 'executors'. I have complained to NatWest and they are taking forever to respond - 3 weeks at least so far. EDF had the good grace to give me £20 good will credit on my account even though it wasn't their fault. I was wondering what other people would expect in the way of an apology if it happened to them . I'm only 46:-x
  13. Hi, I'm new on here, hope you can help Some weeks ago I posted my PPI reclaim documents to my bank (NatWest) and a few days later I received a text message from RBS saying, "Thank you for letting us know about your concerns regarding your PPI policy. We will acknowledge receiept in writing within the next 5 working days." This was about 5 weeks ago, since then I've heard nothing. Not received any written acknowledgement, email or any other texts. Is this normal? What should I do now? It seems from the text I received that they have got my documents but since then nothing has been actioned. Should I give them more time or should I chase this up? (who do I speak to?) Hope one of you guys could help me with this. Thanks for your time. Ginger.
  14. Hello Keeping it short and sweet. Someone i know who is also unemployed has been overdrawn the last three months, his bank the Natwest is charging £5.00 per day + other charges at the start. Can anyone tell me the best plan of action to start off with? Is there anyway to stop these charges. Also get the previous £5.00 per day charges taken off. I'd be so grateful for any advice given. Thanks
  15. I have a large outstanding debt with natwest, i originally contacted natwest who told me that they would not accept my repayment option. i was then passed to Allied international who i completely ignored. they eventually stopped all contact with me and i recently started getting letters from fredricksons international again demanding the debt. the address they have always had for me was my parents, which i had used when first opening my account. but since then frederickson have managed to send them directly to my own home address. i have been ignoring frederickson after reading several bad stories and comments about them on here and other sites. earlier this week i received a letter from Bryan Carter about it. My issue other than the debt is that i dispute how much it is, originally account was a student account and my overdraft was £1250, when i finished uni a "friend" who worked for them, transferred my account to a Gold advantage, this started incurring charges and the interest was ridiculous. i could never put enough in there to start reducing the OD and struggled most months to even make the minimum payment on time. this got out of hand when after my second daughter was born, i missed a month completely and could never catch up with my repayments. as things spiralled, i buried my head in the sand and tried to pretend it would all go away - stupid i know. i called cccs around Christmas time, but never followed through with it and i have got another phone appointment with them on Monday to see how and if they can help me. the debt now stands at £1999.90 and has been frozen at that amount. Are there any suggestions/ letters/ ways of approaching this, as now I have unburied my head and am facing up to my debts. i have already managed to clear £1500 worth that i had also accumulated, but this is the biggest one i have left hanging over me.
  16. Hi, How long do NatWest hold informaiton about accounts/credit cards, essentially I am looking for information in in 1999. Regards
  17. Around 3 months ago I received a letter from Natwest informing me that my debt of 2 pence had been passed to Robinson Way and I should call them immediately to discuss repayment options. After the initial humor of a letter demanding payment of 2p I became more concerned with the fact my details had been passed to one of these ****** agencies. Several phone calls with Natwest later we got to the bottom of the 2p. My account that had been closed was actually 2p in credit but the great Natwest had sent it to Robinson Way by mistake. This should not of happened, Natwest were very sorry and they would contact Robinson Way to get my details removed. This they done at my request with me pasrt of a 3 way call. Robinson Way refused to delete all my details for "data protection reasons" but after a fair bit of arguing they agreed to delete everything but my account number. 1 week later and another letter from Natwest demanding 2p. This time a few more less patient phone calls and once again I am told this was a mistake, very sorry and this time cheque from Natwest for £160 pounds along with a letter saying Robinson Way had once again been contacted and told the must delete all my details. 3 days on and a phone call from Robinson Way looking for...............2p owed to Natwest! More calls to Natwest and another 3 way call. This time Natwest again tell RW they must delete my details and RW refuse saying my account has been linked to a woman I have never heard of. More investigation and Natwest admit this was another mistake by them and I should not have been linked to this random person. Another 3 way call with Natwest and RW but this time RW refuse to delete my details until they have carried out an inquiry. Now if Natwest say they details were all passed over by mistake and have gone to the trouble of sending me 160 quid as an apology, how can RW refuse to delete the details? Any ideas how to deal with these bottom feeders? Not intimidated by them in anyway, just want my details removed out of principle.
  18. Hi I recently got a letter from natwest saying I was £308 od on an account that is not even used. On ringing them the reason it became overdrawn was that a mistaken cheque written for £4.50, wriiten in haste for an after school club back in June. Since then they have been charging £6 a day without our knowledge. The account had an arranged £100 od and they are now demanding payment of all the charges etc. My particular problems are why honour the cheques int he first place? and is it right im being charged for what I see is there mistake?? Thanks in advance Andrew
  19. Hi! I am in a DMP with Payplan with credit card and bank debts going back some years. I believe it is now possible to claim back unfair excessive charges from credit card companies but can this still be done when those creditors are in a DMP? (For one, they may wonder how I can afford a £10 fee for a SAR). One of my DMP creditors is Natwest (bank loan, overdraft and credit card). Could I try to claim unfair charges for all 3? Also, what's best to do, SAR or CCA? an I do these without involving Payplan? Sorry for so many questions but I'm just learning about this process and I find it confusing so any foolproof answers will be greatly appreciated! If I can wipe off some of the old charges that will at least reduce the overall amount I owe.
  20. Forum virgin so please be gentle with me. I am endeavouring to help-out an old friend who was left with well about £35,000 of debt when her marriage failed seven years ago. When her (ex)husband's business failed she naively took out credit cards and a loan to try to help him. Needless to say, he is long gone but the debts still remain. Fortunately, I am in a position to help her with an interest free 'loan' to settle some of her debt but certainly not to the tune of £30,000+. She had progressively cleared some of the debt under a DMP (set up by the CAB in 2006) and was left with four outstanding accounts, all still being paid under her DMP. One was with Cabot and the other three with NatWest: I successfully negotiated with Cabot and agreed a F&F of £3,350 on a debt of £11,000 - so that was cleared. This left the three Natwest ones. NatWest loan - balance £13,470 - current monthly payment of £10 NatWest credit card - balance £5,120 - current monthly payment of £22 Tesco credit card - balance £1,390 - crrent monthly payment of £8 (Worth mentioning, she also has a NatWest mortgage that is not in arrears). I made F&F offers on these. Both credit card offers were refused. The loan offer was passed to their DCA, Moorcroft, by NatWest. Moorcroft quoted an outstanding figure of £18,729 - almost £4,700 more than she realised she owed. It appears that, in addition to the loan, there are two further debts (£2,748.98 and £1,908.71) both relating to overdrafts. Moorcroft put her account on hold on 27th July 2012 while they contacted to NatWest. NatWest have now passed the account to Fredricksons who have just made contact. They haver sent letters relating to the loan and both overdrafts. I have sent them an athorisation letter so they will now have me to deal with. Although her DMP did include these debts, NatWest had only sent her a regular statement for the loan account, hence her confusion. The £10 a month she has paid has been credited to this loan account meaning that both overdrafts have not reduced at all. So here is my first qestion - as it appears to be over 6 years since any credit was made to these two debts, are they now Statute Barred, even though her DMP included them? I (she) has sent CCA request letters regarding the loan and the credit cards. Care has been taken not to mention the two overdrafts in any communication. File requests have been sent to Call Credit, Experian and Equifax. I also need some guidance on the situation with her credit cards but in the interest of not making this post any longer, I will post seperately on these. Thanks for your perseverance in getting this far.
  21. I desperately need some help to understand how Section 75 works. I paid part of a Solicitors bill by credit card for services rendered to my wife (the services was in their name but paid for by me as a primary cardholder). My wife is a secondary cardholder on my credit card account. We discover some 2 months later that the Solicitors had misrepresented my wife and charged for services that they had failed to provide. I have sought to make a claim against my credit card with documentary evidence but they are now citing that they are not liable as the service was for my wife's benefit. My point is that we paid for this using MY credit card, I made the payment using my credit card (not my wife's) on the basis of information the Solicitors had provided me in a face to face meeting (where my wife could not attend) and the Solicitors had categorically told me a pack of lies. I paid the invoice rendered which forms the crux of the dispute with them. Can anyone help on this?
  22. Hi guys, I'm waiting for Natwest to respond to my SAR so i can see if I paid PPI on my loan. I've just received my credit reports from the 3 main companies (experian, equifax and callcredit) and I've also found a natwest summary stating my interest rate. from this info I know that: loan amount was £12,665 rate was 6.9% repayments were £280 x 60months Total amount of repayments comes to £16,800 I may be wrong but I've workled out that £12,665 at 6.9% over 60months should be £248.94 totalling £14,936.40 making a difference of £1,863.60 Does this sound like PPI was added? is this the sort of amount I would have paid? or are my calculations completely wrong! I did default on the loan and now have a CCJ so I am a bit worried because if I did pay PPI I won't know how to work out how much I paid etc. I took out the loan July 2004 and defaulted March 2007, my balance now shows £11,240 so I guess I strarted struggling to pay in March 2006 after only paying back 20 installments of about £5,600? will have to check my records! I know I can't do much without my paperwork and statements but just wondered what your thoughts are so far Thanks Lisa
  23. Hi, In 2009 i opened a student account with Natwest with an arranged interest free overdraft, i can not remember the exact amount though it was around £1000. As it was interest free and within my arranged limit I never thought much about it. After recently obtaining a copy of my credit report i found a default notice placed on my account by Natwest to the amount of £1298.38 defaulted on the date 30/06/2011.I do not recall receiving any default notice and no longer have my original documents. To gather all the information about the account i sent a request under Section 77 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974 using a template. I also requested to be provided with a signed true and certified copy of the original default notice. I recieved this in response from Natwest today: "We understand that you have made a request for information on the above account under the Consumer Credit Act 1974 and that you have asked for a copy of the signed agreement for this facility. Under Section 78 of the Act, on receipt of a written request the Bank is obliged to provide: A copy of a signed agreement Any other documents referred to in the agreement A note of the state of account (i.e. the balance, details of interest and charges outstanding and the applicable interest rate) signed by a representative of the Bank. It is important to point out that the Bank does not require customers to sign an agreement under the Consumer Credit Act in order for the overdraft facility to be applied to their account. Therefore, a copy of the signed agreement is not available and does not need to be produced to you under the terms of Section 78. All borrowing facilities are agreed in accordance with the terms and conditions of the account and overdraft facilities are finalised by way of confirmation letter." It goes on to say this regarding the request for a signed true and certified copy of the original default notice: "We can confirm that the Default Notice was sent on 3 December 2010. The Bank considers this notice was served in accordance with the requirements of Section 176(2) of the Consumer Credit Act. This default was, therefore, registered correctly and will not be removed from your credit file. The default document is a system generated letter so we are unable to reproduce and supply you with a copy of the default notice". I am unsure how to respond, are they saying i never signed a credit agreement under the CCA 1974 and one does not exist?.If so how can they issue a default notice under Section 178(2) of the CCA 1974. Also, surely they must provide me with a copy of the original default notice so i can check whether it contains information in the prescribed terms. How can they claim in this letter is complies with the terms of s.176(2) of the CCA 1974 when they do not even have a copy of the letter themselves? Any help or advice on my next step would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
  24. I have been arguing with natwest about a default notice they have placed on my file for a disputed debt. I would like to know if they can do this whilst the the debt is in default and is this letter a valid default letter. It has made me remove the link anyone know how i can show you this letter without using a link or picture?
