Still no reply from Alistair Darling, been waiting since August, I think another letter stating my unhappiness and if he doesn't pull his finger out I will not be voting for him, or do you think a letter to the local paper would be better. -

I was a bit hurried in going to do my court papers, not got the £39, next week. What name do I put down for the manager of the RBS, or is it just The Manager Royal Bank of Scotland?

Recieved their reply to my prelim letter today, dated 11 Sept. Oh dear how sad, off to court with my papers on Friday. Would still appreciate a reply to my question.

Success, I finally mangaged to not get bored and hang up after all their optons and waiting. I was amazed how quickly they caved and are sending an engineer out on Monday. No charge. Thanks for all the help.

Phoned up the Co-op last Friday, my account is now open, just got an electron card and pay in book, but it does let me set up DD and SO. If my account is run with no problems, after 6 months can upgrade if I wish. I almost opened up a Natwest account, stiil have the forms to sign, but as I have been having problems with the RBofS and they are the same bank I want nothing to do with them.

Speak to Citizens Advice, I tried to get an account and found that a lot of the banks are tied together and that if you lots of applications in a short period of time that can affect your credit rating. Have a look here as well MoneySavingExpert.com ad-free, free to use, Consumer Revenge!

Have gone through my current account and it is over £4000 the B****** are due me. Having read that if I claimed in England I could claim in one go. What I would like to know is, will I send in the prelim and LBA letters using my address and when/if they deny my claim can I then use moneyclaim with a relatives address in England?
-
I wouldn't contact them, give them the 40 days.
-
From my understanding you can claim for the whole amount in letters, then if it goes to court you split it up into the small claim amounts. someone else will be able to give you the coorect method.

The RBS have done exactly the same to me, account sent to Credit Management Service/Centre. They closed my account down after merging a loan as well. And taking my money in my savings account. I have been off work for over a year due to a car crash I have loan protection but due to them losing a sick line I missed one loan payment. This is the reason that they did this to me. RBS are a shower of s***s, the hassle I have had trying to open another account and get my benefits paid direct to me has been a nightmare. I even recieved a letter from another department saying that as a valued customer I could get a credit card with them. Sorry to have hijacked your thread just thought I'd let you know that you are not the only one, as I thought I was till I found this helpful site.

No reply, so have got my LBA ready to send, will I send a copy of the prelim letter as well?

Have had this for over a year now, but it has developed a fault. When I phone up to ask for it to be fixed I am told that it will cost me for a new box and an engineer to come out. When I say that it should last longer than a year I am told if I don't want to pay then they cannot fix it. Anybody have any ideas how to get them to fix it, do I phone them quoting sale of goods act or write to them or even try trading standards?

From what I've read its your timetable and not theirs.

I had a premier account with them, this had a £1000 overdraft limit, due to me being off work for over a year the overdraft hovered around the £200 mark. My account got moved to Credit Management services without me knowing. I got a very snotty phone call telling me that I had been misusing my account and they were closing it. I tried explaining that I had a premier account and that I had a £1000 overdraft so was not breaking any agreement, this did not matter, they closed my account. I am now having great problems in getting even a basic account. Oh yeah claiming £735 on old business account and £4025 on my "closed" account. Just my rant at the RBoS.

I have an old card that I cut up years ago as the interest was crippling, the thing is it has been in credit for over 2 years now and they won't give me the money back. £29 and some pennies. Having been reading the forums I have not seen an answer on how to claim my money back and obviously the interest on this money. Do I claim interest on a monthly basis as they do or what? Any help will be much appreciated.

This may seem a daft question. I have/had 4 accounts, current, savings, joint and business, so do I have to send in a separate Data Protection Act letter for each.

Hi, was told about this site by a girl from the bank who said to have a look as it was hilarious to all the staff. Am furiously reading all the FAQ's in preparation of claiming back "MY MONEY" Can I claim for a business account that the bank closed down last year? Will my Fiance who has an account with the RBS as well be better off to open a new account as well, before she starts her own claim. The reason behind this is the bank threatened her with court action because my account was overdrawn.
