  3. Give them a call saying many thanks for all the cheques, but you're just enquiring exactly what they payment for! (then send them back). Unless you are like the banks - send em' back! PL edited: please be aware of using potentially libelous remarks Thanks.
  4. Brilliant stuff - congratulations! Great to see some winning threads on here PL
  5. Brilliant stuff indeeed! Well done bandit, long may this ledgenary fight live on in the long memory of the consumeractiongroup
  6. Natwest seem to be by far the worst in terms of trying to intimidate their customers into not giving up. Congratulations on the other banks, and i hope all goes well with the conference (or non conference if Natwest pay up before hand). What exactly have they said is supposed to happen at these things? PL
  7. There are basically three credit reference agencies that financal institutions share their data with - Experian, Equifax and Call credit. Equifax and Experian are the most commonly used ones, with Experian being the one that banks use the most. For example, if you miss a couple of payments on your Barclaycard, this may appear on the experian database and the Equifax one, but not the Call Credit one if Barclaycard chose not to use this agency. Your bank obviously has more information about you - they know how you operate your accounts for example. They thus have their own internal assessment of your credit worthiness (how hard they are going to try and flog you other products). It is likely that your internal one is not good, but if you've kept up all your payments on credit cards and the like there is nothing evil on your external records. It can be worth getting hold of a copy of your credit report just to see. PL
  8. Which make lots of money from people coming to their site and signing up for their mag i'm afraid, so there's no interest for them directing people elsewhere. PL
  9. This sounds like the bog standard defence. Sorry to be a pain, but if you want to make sure the only way is to post it on here in full so we can tell you (or look at other people's posts and check there PLUTOS G
  10. Bog standard apart from the part about the offer which they have inserted in the middle of the letter PL
  11. Yes get a follow up call in to remind them of their obligations, and the consequences outlined in your letter for non-compliance Good luck plutos
  12. Cobbetts is doing so well out of Natwest that they are moving: Cobbetts is moving... !!!! PL
  13. Hi Stansfield. It would be great for you to start you own thread with this on. If you do this then everyone knows where to go to help you! Briefly, I'd say you should at least write a letter to decline the offer - if it does get to court, I believe you should have shown that you have been reasonable. With mutliple offers, there obviously has to be a stage where you take them to court to stop them increasing the offer by a tenner every time. Ask this again in your own thread - it'll be interesting to watch what answers you get Cheers PL
  14. As far as i am aware the banks have only reduced their credit card fees, claiming that the oft ruling had nothing to do with current account default fees. I have certainally had nothing from Natwest about reduced fees on my account, and they are still charging me as much as ever if I am the slightest bit over drawn. They have no incentive to change them until the oft puts a test case through PLuTOS

    Hi All

Yep. take it you know all of your charges etc? If so, get in there with the LBA and give em 14 days to repond. Good Luck PL
  16. That's what I thought. It is their fault that I have had to pay the fees, so they can pay them (unless they wish to contend the case in court, which
  17. The more nose the better - makes me look really popular that people are hanging out here! Any other comments on the letter? I'm going to send it in an hour or two (and fax a copy to them). Is it correct to be mentioning interest and court fees (I made this bit up) or should I just mention the original claim? PL
  18. OK. I can't seem to find a 'perfect' letter, but will this do?;;;;; --------- PLutos The Doghouse Woof-woof street Cruftville Cobbetts LLP Ship Canal House King Street Manchester M2 4WB Response to settlement offer. Dear Sirs Thank you for your letter dated xx/09/06 I respectfully decline your offer of settlement and request, once again, that you return to me all charges imposed on this account, totalling £9xx.xx, interest at 8% per year of £7x.xx under sec. 69 of the County Courts Act of 1984 (for the period 17th October 2002 until 31st July 2006) plus interest at the same rate up to the date of Judgement, and the Court Fee already incurred of £120.00. I will accept the sum offered only as part settlement and on the clear understanding that I will still continue to pursue the remainder. I trust this clarifies my position. 19. Hi Logan. I'm just behind you in this procedure, so it will be really interesting to see what happens over the next few days. At the moment I am just writing my refusal letter after they offered me £600 for a £1000 claim (plus costs). PLUTOS
  20. Good stuff! No idea how long they take though....
  21. Don't worry about it Chris, just one of those things. You have right on your side, and ultimatly they know that. Just be determined not to give in.... PLUTOS
  22. Don't worry, we're all watching. Looks like we've got an expert at work here! The guys in the forum here usually pick up any questions or problems pretty quickly, but due to the volume of claims they can't comment all the time on everything. Good Luck! PL
  23. Ahh can't find the bloody letter.... more searching on the forum....
  24. Got the first offer yesterday..... £600 Pretty standard, not letting them get away with this. I'll write and fax the reply of this morning. At the end of the day, I'm quite happy to stand up and demolish any arguement for the validity of these charges! {P:L:U:T:O:S}
