You will need to ring DLA to change the appointee As long as you care for your son for 35+ hours a week and don't earn over £110 a week you can claim Carers You will unfortunately have to reapply for tax credits as a single claim rather then a joint claim. Your money will stop but it will be backdated once your single claim is set up

Carers Allowance, and Income Support top up......
Ros1609 replied to diskmandave's topic in Benefits and HMRC
Certainly my 'interviews' were always just to check my circumstances hadn't changed. No pressure about looking for work etc. My adviser always lets me know about the courses my local college run too in case anything interests me but no pressure to attend etc -
If you see a pattern to the vehicle registrations/time of day etc then phone the police on the non emergency number. The other year I noticed a man stood staring at my house. An hour later he was still there so I rang the police and they sent out a PCSO to have a word with him. Turned out to be completely innocent but the police said I had done the right thing by calling them and not approaching him etc

Carers Allowance, and Income Support top up......
Ros1609 replied to diskmandave's topic in Benefits and HMRC
I get Income Support as a Carer and Carer's Allowance. At my last job centre appointment in March my adviser swapped me onto three yearly interviews and told me I was not obliged to swap onto JSA/look for work but to ring her if anything changed in the three year period -
Child maintenance service (Formally the CSA)
Ros1609 replied to mikeymack2002's topic in Benefits and HMRC
Yes a lot of us who use the CSA are well aware our claims will be swapped to CMS and we'll be charged to use the service. Its the main reason me and my ex husband swapped to a private agreement -
Job Centre Plus first interview (income Support)
Ros1609 replied to Leakie's topic in Benefits and HMRC
Depends on the school. My little girl was 4 last July, she started full time school last September. No January intake, no half days etc. Straight into 9-3 days But you can claim Income Support as a lone parent until your youngest child turns 5 -
Job Centre Plus first interview (income Support)
Ros1609 replied to Leakie's topic in Benefits and HMRC
Its just an appointment to confirm that your circumstances haven't changed i.e. you are still receiving Income Support and they'll ask if you want any help getting back into work etc. Really nothing to worry about -
Disability Living Allowance and Job Seekers Allowance are two different benefits. If you do not receive Disability Living Allowance then you will have to attend your job placement

If you believe she has opened accounts in your name then check your credit rating immediately and inform the police if she has. This is fraud and needs sorting before it affects your credit rating. As for the CSA. Child Benefit is payable until the 31st August AFTER your child turns 16 so you are liable for any monies owed until then at least. Could you get a letter from her former school on headed paper giving the date she left. This link gives more info https://www.gov.uk/child-benefit-16-19

I saw someone in a suit at my local job centre the other week. He was better dressed then the majority of the advisers!

Looks about right to me Antone. My ex husband was made to pay over £700 arrears in one go, they wouldn't negotiate with him despite me saying I was happy to be paid in installments

I have had three council properties. Each time I have had to repaint some or all of the property, replace carpet/laminate flooring, wallpaper etc at a cost to myself because what the Council provided did not cover the full cost of redecorating. Its fairly standard procedure for the majority of councils and tennants. I really fail to see your problem

Has he asked for a breakdown of how they got to £63 a week? Does that include arrears etc? Has he informed them he has a new baby as that will reduce his payments It sounds to me like his ex wife has worked out she can get more if she goes through the CSA. Is he still paying through their informal agreement? If he can find out the date when she first claimed and prove he continued to pay the informal amount for however long then that might also reduce the payment Not sure how it works if he makes himself bankrupt

Agree but just want to clarify. Was the Housing Benefit paid directly to you or directly to your landlord?
-
If he is no longer working I don't think the CSA can make him pay unless he is claiming benefits

Ex husband had a baby with his girlfriend in September. Despite them informing the CSA when she was born and again when they had got the child benefit claim set up for her, the CSA calculated the new amount but have continued to pay me at the same rate. No paperwork has been sent to either of us, we've just been told the new payment rate over the phone. Neither of us were told how much I would have to pay back and when either When I rang up to check last month they said it was because they pay me a month in arrears so e.g. the money I get in Novemer is taken out of my ex husbands October pay. Had a text message off them to say my payment is on its way and guess what? Its still the amount he was paying before his new daughter arrived. Checked with my ex husband yesterday and he had his December payslip on him so we had a look and they have taken my over payment in one go leaving me with well under £100 due to be paid to me in January. Great timing! I understand I will have an overpayment to pay back but seriously to take it off me in one go without discussing it with me first is a bit harsh in my opinon. The adviser I spoke to was very apologetic (aren't they always tho) and shes going to look into why someone has made the decision to take the over payment in one go rather then spread it over a few months. Beginning to think that seeing as me and my ex husband are pretty civil these days that we should just swap to a private agreement. Be so much less hassle then dealing with the CSA!

Job centre call to check if I am getting the correct benefit

No I wasn't notified in writing. They did go through a security check before any personal info was discussed -
Job centre call to check if I am getting the correct benefit
Ros1609 replied to Love or hate me's topic in Benefits and HMRC
I've had 2, 2 years apart. First was a paper form they sent through the post after I missed a call and the 2nd was a phone call a few months ago. Don't know if its random or something everyone on benefits has -
Always send copies. I've only ever had one set of evidence returned to me from DLA
-
Yep I got mine and so did the kids
-
I had one over the phone not long ago and had to send off bank statements. In short she asked me a load of questions about my circumstances, what benefits I received etc, if I had any children etc. All totally above board and nothing has changed for me as a result
