  1. BRW, I think you have just saved somebody from doing something really stupid. It was more an indulge if i think clearer after a cup of hot chocolate, i'll take your advice and guarantee you wont see me moaning anywhere on here in five months time because my credit card has done me over, because i wont be having one, thanks to your advice. I am off to bed now, feeling very good that somebody persuaded me in a few sentences, thanks alot mate, i will not be applying for a credit card now, i don't honestly need it, instead i will buy a cheaper motor, maybe i will be driving around in a Kia, but atleast it is mine in principle. Thanks again, and good night. 90DC
  2. Thought you may want to look at this. The government have failed haven't they? Just 15 families helped by Government's home owners mortgage support scheme - Telegraph "The Homeowner Mortgage Support Scheme is one of several Government measures to help struggling home owners. It allows those facing a loss of income, for example if they have been made redundant, to reduce their monthly mortgage payments for up to two years. Politicians described the scheme as a “failure”, saying it was not helping to combat the financial difficulties facing home owners..."
  3. I was looking at ways to improve my credit score this evening and worked out that the best way (Only realistic way) was to get a credit card, i have spent an hour looking at credit cards and chose a Capital One Classic (34.9%). I am on benefits (Can i get a credit card on benefits) but only want a credit limit of £500, something to improve my credit limit. I want to know if this is realistic based on the APR, 16 months @ £40p/m total around £630 repayable. Is this right? Are there any more charges? Do i have a better option? Sorry about the questions, i have never taken credit before but thought it be better to get a credit card than a Provident Loan, as this isn't just to buy something i can't afford, it is to improve a credit rating at the lowest possible fee. I can afford minimum repayments of up to £50 per month. Please could anyone let me know if there is anything else i need to know or any better options. The money is going towards transport for me so i can expand my job search and get to college, lowering the cost of my partner taking me in the car. Please help.
  4. I'm sorry to hear this, if there's nothing that nobody can do then that is a shame. I do hope she manages to sort the problem out, because it sounds like in other aspects of her life, she is getting on fine. You and your family have done as much as you can, and nobody should expect any more than that. If she's "24 and not a kid" i do hope she is doing all she can, and wish her luck with it. I don't know her, but it would be such a shame to lose her job as a result of debt.
  5. I think climate change is just a huge tax [problem], we now pay more money if our cars have high CO2 emissions. I think this is why certain countries around the world aren't taking action.
  6. Mine £1200 Natwest SWMBO (Missus) £900 Natwest £450 Lloyds
  7. Natwest are taking me for a mug. They threw everything in their letters to delay it as much as possible and what do you know, i haven't had a letter in weeks. Went down financial hardship route.
  8. diskmandave you have a B+M bargains mug on your kitchen side, did you spend £20 or more or did you pay for it? £2 is it? My girlfriend used to work there as her first job.
  9. Love this one. Would love to see it on a mug. With something funny on the otherside of the mug, like Natwest burning to the ground as thousands of people reclaim their rights.

  11. I'd recommend somebody close to her to have a wee word with her, sounds quite serious. She's getting involved with BrightHouse and DCA's and seems to think everything in life has to be material. Does she have a job?
  12. Haven't got a printer, i am sure there are people that will try and sell these on eBay. though.

  14. Cancelling the trip to Lleyn Peninsula in Wales that collides with something i need to watch on TV next July.
  15. My missus wanted to book a weekend trip to Wales going on 10/07/2010 to 12/07/2010. I am sorry but i put my foot down for a change. Now i know England won't be in the Final, but if they are, i am not watching it in Lleyn Peninsula, i've never even heard of the place, besides, i have a problem understanding Welsh people's accents, nothing prejudice, just it's very squeaky and very fast and sounds like a constantly happy person on speed.
  16. On the poll more people have voted Calais, take the meet there and go on a booze cruise at the same time...
  17. Okay Jan4a, thanks... Just i'm down there from Friday to Monday. Mungypup... I know, technology is a bit crap at times, the things we have to do to ensure that we always have technology. If that makes any sense at all... Not long woke up and haven't had a cup of tea yet.
  18. I have sympathy with a couple of people who posted, 389 and MKB. I will add my story now, as i think it's relevant. My partner fell pregnant in November last year (Our second child), i lost my job in January and as a result, fell behind with payments on my house and lost that too... Lost everything... Now, if i hadn't have been charged so much by the bank (Started as an unauthorised DD, ran into over £800) i would definately have still been living in my own house, and wouldn't have ran up £2000 worth of debt on unpaid bills etc (All DD's). It's quite hard to explain the whole story but the basis is, i was financially secure, my only problem was i never checked my bank account, and because of illegal activity on my account, and then the bank charging my account, i was screwed over. As it stands, no mortgage, no job, spent two months living in a hostel, a further six weeks in temporary accomodation and now i am stuck in a council house, with two kids, no income to support these and not really much of a prospect. Desperate to get back into work, but started college in September this year. Okay, you can argue that my problem started because of the reasons why i lost my job, which was a lay-off due to company going bust, which wouldn't have happened if it weren't for the bankers that the banks rely on anyway, if they hadn't have invested all their money in Icelandic banks, i will have been fine. Sorry if this doesn't make sense or if it offends anybody... At the end of the day, i turn 20 next month, and when the default on my bank account expires in six years (Ish) time... I will be ready to restart my life. That's a moan, it's reasons like mine that people claim money back, and it's hearing that bankers are moaning about bonuses that makes my blood boil. I feel alot better now it's out.
  19. I have to have lots of AA and AAA rechargables for my wireless keyboard, wireless mouse, wireless headphones, everything seems to be wireless, i want wireless and batteryless, i constantly have batteries charging in the charger, it's my mouse, it eats the battery life in those AAA's.
