  1. apologies if this has already been posted: (only lasst 10 mins, quite interesting): BBC NEWS | Programmes | Newsnight | Newsnight, Monday 2 March, 2009
  2. an interesting debate, just a thought, if gyzmo doesn't take it someone else will so those peeps stand just as much chance of being traced anyway. But, gyzmo would effectively be a 'double-agent' and may yield some gems for the longer term benefit of caggers. (i'll get my coat..)
  3. Your very first contact with them (when they phone you) may be rather pleasant, they'll build a rapport, friendly inflexion in their voice etc. They are lulling you into a false sense of security to reveal details and possibly make a token payment, ( a quid will do) thus acknowledging the debt and re-setting the statute barred clock. Also decline to 'setup security' (this is to comply with the data protection act).
  4. I draw my own inferences and no doubt so do other poster(s) to this thread. At this stage, I'd suggest you get it moved to the legal forum. Perhaps you should also write chasing up the regarding the SAR.
  5. Very odd, so in summary, he signed a CCA using 2 siggys, his full and abbreviated versions (he did this at the time the courier dropped off the cheque). The customer copy he gets back is blank, no siggy's. FC come up with a copy of the CCA bearing only 1 siggy (his abbreviated one), which presumably is the one he uses on cheques. mmm...
  6. Terrific stuff, a crap day at work, and I come home and read this thread and the links in thread 1. I think I'll have a beer.
  7. let me get this right, so the handwriting on 'his own copy' is identical to that supplied but the only difference between the two is what they have supplied bears his 'secondary' signature ?, and furthermore, your mate doesn't know how it got there ?.
  8. An excellent thread, good to see that peopleare starting to open their eyes.
  9. This happens a lot, they shouldn't do it but given the fact they are a law unto themselves they do and get away with it. Personally, I think you'll be fighting an uphill battle to get it removed.
  10. I wonder if this will get reported in Credit Today ?
  11. kitty... this site is in a league of its own, whatever you do, don't worry, you'll be fine. Your 'opponents' may rely on your legal ignorance but there are laws that this sight is quite happy to enlighten you with.
  12. hehe... a very professional looking spoof website there mr.ton
  13. in reply to your question, how do i stop the CCCS paying 'creditors' who are unable to supply an enforceable CCA I believe the answer is as follows: (any old lags please correct me if I'm wrong...) When it is set up, you can access your DMP online, you are able to change any 'balance' to any of the 'creditors' within it. Thus the one's you don't want to pay, you just set their balance to zero. But bear in mind, 'creditors' have access to this data and they are also able to update it.
  14. very sorry to hear of your situation, but stick with this lot and you'll be ok. Be on your guard about receiving phone calls. The first call you receive from whichever 'collector' and they may have a rather pleasant inflexion and tone of voice, build a rapport and lull you into a false sense of security. They are fishing for personal details for data protection (they have to do this when phoning but once registered thats it, the floodgates will open and you can do with out that. Just say, I will not discuss personal details with you and terminate the call. As 42man says, give the debtline a ring and spend some time reading the forums (stickies in the DCI forum is a good start) and you'll start to feel more confident about taking control of some aspects that are currently bothering you.
  15. Statute barred, so don't lose any sleep over it. Someone will be along to advise the correct letter to send.
  16. This has happened before, they send someone along to argue about costs you may be claiming. Apparently its cheaper than them having costs awarded against them (if they 'win'). No idea if they're 'no-win' 'no-fee', someone else will no doubt have a view on that. Hope your day goes well.
  17. I was multi-tasking but in teh background, Andrew Marr was interviewing Lord Turner the top cheese at the FSA on his program a few mins ago, did I hear right, the FSA employs circa 2500 - 2800 people and that they have a bonus pool this year of 15% and its going to get paid ?.
  18. try a search on this forum for 'pastdue credit solutions'
  19. Not sure yet, but fellow cagger deepdept has suggested in post 12 of this thread there may be. http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/debt-collection-industry/183632-please-help-me-lcs.html
  20. Lucky you, the regional wireless station in my area is almost entirely devoted to 'rubbish rescue', which is a euphemism for "i've some some junk I was going to take to the tip, does anyone want it" and 'phone ins' asking listeners where can i buy bright orange nylon sheets.
