  1. OK, if you do get that laptop, get some top games to go with it... If you're only gonna play the games listed, I'd be tempted to get something more like this :- http://www.amazon.co.uk/Acer-Processor-Integrated-Graphics-Windows/dp/B00FLPFR5W/ref=sr_1_23?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1396478495&sr=1-23&keywords=17.3+i5
  2. If I somehow managed to scrape that sort of money together I'd be getting a new desktop computer with a 32" 1080p TV to use as the monitor (desktops you always get a lot more bang for your buck) MSI always makes me think of those Japanese cartoons.... (I always say their name in a high pitched Japanese accent, Micro Star International) Here is their wiki page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Micro-Star_International What games are you looking at playing?
  3. Surprised to hear this about a HTC One Mini. HTC announced that they will repair the 1st instance of damaged screen for free. Read this :- http://www.htc.com/us/go/cracked-screen-replacement/
  4. As this is in the bear garden, I really wanna ask something silly like "what does a doctor sticking his finger up someones bum have to do with land ownership"... I shall however refrain oh bugger.
  5. After 6 months there is "reverse burden of proof" ie you need to prove it is faulty, and this is due to a manufacturing defect. To prove this you may need an engineers report stating it is due to manufacturing defect. Email the retailer and ask them if they will repair this or if you need to take it further. They may state they need you to get an engineers report stating the fault is with the manufacture or the product. If they require an engineers report, they must refund this to you if it is proven to be a manufacturing defect, and repair the TV.
  6. One of the few tragedies where I've not been inundated with crappy jokes... the only one I've heard so far: Check your mobile phone was not made in Malaysia... If it was do not use the "Airplane Mode" or you are bound to lose it.
  7. I know Richard frequents this forum, so if you read this, Congratulations! I know the judgement did not yield all you deserved, but if it wasn't for people like you this world would be a worse place!
  8. The link is a Google link, so it would appear genuine. do you access Hotmail through the web browser or through an email client? If you can get the properties of the email, copy and paste them here and we'll tell ya
  9. hope the thief's as dopy as this guy... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2585055/Dopey-burglar-lands-jail-taking-SELFIE-stolen-mobile-accidentally-sending-victims-colleagues.html
  10. Ombudsman Services : Telecoms This is the new name for Otelo. IMO they are just a toothless qango. If you have justification you can always take your complain to the courts, but you will have to prove three's failings and your losses.
  11. Interestingly, windows 8 and 8.1 semi hibernate when you shut them down now. Restarting the computer is now how you completely empty the memory and reload from scratch. (the boot takes a little longer on a restart)
  12. Are you getting anything on the screen at all? Any POST message / splash screen / manufacturers logo? I'm assuming not, so things to try 1st remove all power to the unit, (if a laptop, remove the battery and the charger, Desktop PC just remove the power cable from the back) then press and hold the power button for 30 seconds and then plug in and try again 2nd, this does sound like something essential is not working. A good clean up of the insides may help. Unplug everything as above and open the unit and remove any dust. 3rd remove and reseat the graphics card and memory. If you have more than 1 memory stick installed, try them singularly and try all memory slots. hope that helps.
  13. beware of debt management companies... they can CLAIM all of this but they have no powers to enforce it! do some research on CAG regarding this. most importantly read this: http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/forumdisplay.php?417-Debt-Management-Companies I know step change are a free one, but you have shown yourself capable of dealing with things yourself... maybe have a read around there and see if you can sort things better for yourself and your mum.
  14. There is normally an F key to flash the BIOS on POST, and you should be able to download the old version of BIOS from www.hp.com
  15. iPad can be connected to the TV using "Apple TV" if it's the wires you don't want. Is there not a BT Sport app for her TV? Browsers are generally not that good for streaming on a tv
  16. qango = quasi autonomous non governmental organization (aka something privatised that does the job of a government body but is really a toothless organisation) The up side for trying them is free to you.
  17. Is this Virgin Media or Virgin Mobile? You cannot complain to Ofcom, your complaint would go to their "alternative dispute resolution" (a qango) Virgin's complaints code is located HERE
  18. There has only ever been the illusion of democracy. They do sneaky things like move the border lines of marginal seats to include more safe votes to ensure they get elected... that's why it generally takes more than just 1 term for the party to change. 34% of politicians attended private school, I think I know about 3 people that attended private school! Where I live you could pin a red rose to a chimp and it would get elected, because the whole area was mining and lib dems are now a bigger joke than ever. Political discussions with friends before the last general election, we were all praising the lib dems for their stance on tuition fees. Anyone of us that listened to their "promise" were sadly disappointed, and the tories will never be forgiven for the pit closures (although the pits were doomed no matter what government was in as power stations could buy cheaper coal from developing countries) What I don't understand, I don't know anyone that changes their vote. The people who tell me where they vote have never changed... so how come their are enough people that change their minds for the opposition to ever get power?
  19. The charge was added a year or so ago and snook onto the back of a bill IIRC
  20. I don't see how skin colour enters the issue. Something untoward seems to have befallen a child, most likely at the hands of an adult. The only thing I can see inferred about this is it is normally middle-aged white men in custody, and this does seem unusual given that the prime suspect is pretty much the opposite of how you would picture the prime suspect... It's a strong case for NOT generalising about people IMO.
  21. What is your aim? Get out of any minimum term contract? If so you will need a lot of goodwill from them, coverage is never guaranteed and they can prove hard to negotiate with. You will be asking someone to go the extra mile for you. FYI as o2 is closest, Tesco and GiffGaff also use their network, so you can still compare deals with those
