  1. Definately RBOS and obtained account via Gregory Pennington. I was in a lot of debt at the time and they were supposed to stop all action against me, ended up with a CCJ and attachment of earnings.... had I known then what I know now I wouldn't have taken that path. It was pretty much an IVA but without the legal status that comes with an IVA.
  2. Glad to have been of some help - it was back in 2003/4 when I had this account - had I known then what I know now I would have taken a different route. Experience is a wonderful teacher at times... but a hard taskmaster.
  3. Patrickq1 I fully understand your rant, as I said in my earlier post it cant have been a coincidence to check my record and then receive a batch of old debts at my new address. I don't even begin to understand the laws of tort but surely Experian owning Westcot is an example, the boot is in the same camp. I still believe that if a DCA writes to you regarding a debt they should include the last bill sent to you, NOT a statement of account, but a copy of the last bill sent. This might stop them churning out automatic letters which have little basis in fact - I am NOT going to pay a DCA who says I owe X company Y amount without X company sending me the last bill.
  4. Thanks, I still think our anthem should be Money Money Money by Abba, after all they wrote it after the Swedish Tax man took large chunks of their dough....
  5. A week has now gone since I emailed Mr Hurlston and NO REPLY - wonder how many emails he did get before the system got blocked... my IT friend says probably 300 emails would have done the trick initially.
  6. As the debt is over six years old if they do try to go to court the court would throw the case out. I'd send Ruthbridge a Statute Barred letter (from the templates) and if they send any more letters just send the copy of the statute barred letter. If they phone send the telephone harrassment letter.
  7. The 'intentionally homeless' should apply to all illegal immigrants who come into this country by that definition.... they have left a home somewhere else, travelled through various safe countries (ie France and Germany in many cases) to get to the UK and then expect housing and funds to be available. I wish I had some money to give towards your daughter's deposit for a new place, by paying extortionate bailiff fees for a council tax fee I then made myself 'intentionally homeless' by not paying my mortgage... I know of a case where a 19 years old girl went to the council because she didn't want to babysit for her three younger step brothers and got a 2 bedroomed flat. Have you tried to get a re-hearing at the court as obviously the Judge wasn't clued up on the housing laws locally and needs to be informed pronto. Please PM me if you want to - this sort of thing makes my blood boil.
  8. Wonderful, the Judge here deserves a medal, he's given the bank a stick to beat themselves with! They are NOT going to be happy bunnies. If they do deduct charges you can scream "CONTEMPT OF COURT JUDGEMENT" at them and inform the court immediately of their breach. I am watching this thread with interest now.
  9. This account has been around for a long time and was originally an account I had, don't believe them that they will take your money first, they will take "their" money first. There is also a nasty little £10 fee they charge if you haven't got money in the account on the 29th of the month (or they used to have on this account - I can provide evidence) and therefore overdraw you so they can charge further fees the following month. The account also is used by several companies who set up IVA's so be very very careful, it could damage your credit rating having this account - I will have a look through my paperwork to see who set it up originally (I think it was Gregory Pennington...) and what their terms were then.
  10. Nice one. My favourte bank storys was when a certain bank tried to charge me for being £2 overdrawn for four hours, despite me paying in £10 the day before, and money going in the following day. I called the call centre who told me to go to the branch, I asked the call centre for a reference in case of problems. When I got to the branch I was told to call the call centre - which I did, and handed my phone to the lady on the front desk, who did not like it at all - she called a manager and the problem was dealt with swiftly in my favour.
  11. It sounds as if your daughter has found a ray of hope at the end of the tunnel, congratulations to you for sticking with her, I know some people would have disowned their child had they been found 'involved' in drugs. Please give yourself a pat on the back and I am keeping my fingers crossed that everything goes well for the move on the 20th.
  12. London and Scottish Bank are strongly connected to this lot, hence the London Scottish House address. Robinson Way are the initial debt collectors, with Horwich Farrelly being the solicitors.
  13. If this 'Jerry' who works for numerous companies is for real I would report him for calling your father - against debt collection guidelines - and if he works for numerous companies I suspect he is based in a call centre.... The best one I heard was when somebody rang one of my brothers after another brother (I have four brothers) and was given the number of the local sexually transmitted disease clinic.... not really fair though on the clinic staff but I bet the guy ringing got a nasty shock!
  14. Surey if Ramco are American and based in the USA they should have no jurisdiction (?sp) to collect debts in the UK unless they have a UK licence... and if they are doing this from the USA they need to be reported to the local equivalent of the Trading Standards people - who are a LOT tougher than our lot. Worth an investigation.....
  15. Have you ever asked them to change the repayment date - they can do this but if you are paid by cheque and it takes 10 days to clear then they should know about it. You also need to point out that their charges are causing you real hardship and will prevent you from increasing any payment to them - that should help.
  16. There is a definite link, I checked my information a couple of months ago and suddenly got a pile of letters from DCA's regarding old debts - several of which had been paid directly to the company concerned and NOT the DCA. I sorted out the matter by writing to each DCA asking for a copy of the final bill from their clients - much more accessible than agreements - and each time they returned to the clients with no further action to be taken. Whilst a CCA request would have been better in some cases it would have been an acknowledgement of the debt... I know it is not supposed to 'set the clock ticking' again but I don't trust the DCA scumbags one iota.
  17. Maggie, congratulations on the test results - hope the rest of the results are okay. I have a couple of tests ahead and hope they will prove what I've been telling the NHS for the last three years... the other tests have already done that part way and have given them another lead. Hope the claim info is going steadily, mine is deadlocked at the moment, no reply from Crap1 and GMAC aren't budging.
  18. I don't know about your local council but the two councils round my area have cash tills sited in the local library, and outside their own offices... if you can't get their online payments working you can use these, you get a reference no when you make your payment - by cash or debit/credit card. As far as I know you don't need a pin no as your council tax reference/account no has to be keyed in.
  19. No reply as of today, and I sent my email in the early hours of Sunday... (I suffer from early morning wakening insomnia...). I hope the poor man's email inbox has crashed his company's email system!
  20. Why not get a Nat West Step account, you can have standing orders and direct debits paid from this and they do online banking. I stopped all my DDs after money was 'inappropriately' withdrawn 10 days before it was due over Xmas, caused a lot of stress and fuss and since then no charges, no hassle and paying everything online is much easier. Oaky you do get the odd £5 'non payment by dd' charge but they should hopefully soon be deemed illegal, they are in Ireland....
  21. I would love to come to the protest - even though I live in London, can get a train up to Brum... might have to stay overnight though... The forum questions on the website are really rather ghastly, have a read of them - especially the petition - what a waste of space and a petition! I really should post onto them and see what reaction I get from asking a simple question - ie how do I CCA somebody or SAR somebody... that should be fun.
  22. The CAG strikes back - there are also job adverts on that site Credit Today online I can't apply as I have a CCJ, but there are other jobs there. I found it a very nauseating site, all "we are doing our jobs brilliantly" slant and some of the articles are so badly edited the original meaning has been lost. There is one about the Information Commission which has been well and truly mauled away from it's original meaning. I shall see if they will let me become a member of the forum... will use a different name though, Kinyobi comes to mind (Japanese for Friday or money day....)
  23. We Got a mention - Credit Today online Plus they have a list of all their members and contact names and addresses... quite interesting reading.
  24. I think that the anthem should be "Money Money Money" by Abba or the excellent Meatloaf song "I want my money back....."
